This evening, we'll have the chance to witness the most impressive solar eclipse visible from the UK since 1999.
As the Moon moves in front of the Sun, up to 96% of the Sun will be covered in some parts of the country. Here in Worthing, the eclipse will reach its maximum at 7:14pm.
We know our volunteers at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust are always keen to get involved in community events and share memorable experiences with family, friends, and fellow volunteers. This is a wonderful opportunity to take a few moments to look up, appreciate the amazing world around us, and be part of a rare astronomical event.
If you are planning to watch the eclipse, please remember that safety comes first. Never look directly at the Sun without certified solar eclipse glasses or specialist viewing equipment, as this can cause serious damage to your eyesight. There are also several safe viewing methods available, and plenty of guidance can be found online.
Whether you're volunteering today, spending time with loved ones, or simply enjoying a well-earned break, we hope you have the opportunity to enjoy this remarkable event safely.
✨ Happy eclipse watching from the Voluntary Services Team!
