When we grieve a relationship, the one that ended, the one that never happened the one that left you feeling alone;

Something unexpected sometimes emerges.

A clearer sense of what you need. What you've been searching for.

What you're actually looking for.

Grief has a way of pointing us back to ourselves.

In therapy, that's often where the most important work begins.

A loss that feels minimised, unofficial, something you're expected to just 'get over.'

This is what it can feel like to grieve a connection you miss.

The relationship that ended and you can't stop mourning.

The one that never happened.

The person you built a life with, who feels like a stranger.

Nobody tells you how to grieve a hope that didn't survive.

But it's real, and it makes complete sense.

In therapy, we explore what made it matter, because the answer is rarely just about that person.

Have you ever grieved a relationship that never happened?

Or felt completely alone in one that looks fine from the outside?

Not all relationship loss looks like a breakup.

I wrote about what happens when we're waiting, and after.

The questions that come up along the way, and what might shift once the searching stops.

Sometimes a wave arrives without warning.

Bigger than you expected. Lingering longer than feels reasonable. Finding you somewhere ordinary and refusing to let go.

It's not an overreaction.

It's a signal.

In therapy, we slow down and listen to that signal together. We trace what it's attached to, what it meant, and what it held.

And when it's understood and witnessed, it no longer feels quite so overwhelming. You begin to understand it differently.

And that can change so much.

The friendship that just faded.

The parent who isn't who you knew anymore.

The child that grew up.

The move you made. The job you left.

These things get brushed past. Normalised. And so the grief of them goes unwitnessed.

But unwitnessed doesn't mean it isn't there.

I'm here to witness all of it with you.

There is no map for where you are.

Every decision opens another set of doors. Do we try again? Do we change something? Do we wait?

And behind each of those, more questions, more versions of a future you can't yet see.

You're being asked to make impossible choices inside impossible uncertainty. And somehow still show up in your life.

I can't tell you which door to choose, but I will be alongside you while you find what feels true to you, even when nothing feels certain.

There is a particular loneliness in carrying something this hard.

While the people around you fill the silence with things they hope will help. Things that land like stones.

In therapy, you don't have to perform hope you don't feel. You don't have to protect anyone from how hard it really is.

You can bring it exactly as it is. The grief, the anger, the exhaustion, the uncertainty. And I'll be alongside you through it.

That's what I do.

❀️ If this resonates, share with someone who might need to hear it.

All parts of you are welcome.

The parts you're proud of.
The parts you're still trying to understand.
The angry part.
The frightened part.
The grieving part.
The hopeful part.
The part that says, "I'm fine," when you're anything but.

So many of us learn early which parts of ourselves are acceptable to show.

Therapy can be one of the few places where you don't have to perform.

Where you don't have to arrive as the best version of yourself.

Just as you are.

Because all parts of you are welcome.

Sometimes life shifts in ways that ask you to become an explorer of a new version of yourself. And that can feel devastating and confusing.

Even when everything on the outside looks exactly the same as it always did.

The loss is real. So is the possibility of what comes next.

This is the kind of in-between space I work in.

A week of stories. A lifetime of learning. From a child who drew the language wasn't hers yet, to finding that sometimes all it takes is a room where someone is pleased to see you.

What a week. What a privilege to share it.

Thank you for being here! And thank you to the incredible Marmalade Trust and Janice, a true trailblazer, The Glamour Club CIC for making this happen. 🧑
