Hypnotherapy with children often looks very different to what people imagine.

It’s not usually about closing their eyes and going into a deep trance, although as they get older it absolutely can be. But for younger children, more often, it looks like creativity, curiosity, movement, imagination, and helping a child gently reconnect with what is happening inside their body.

Before a session, I might set out:
✨ colouring pencils
✨ body outline worksheets
✨ sensory objects
✨ feelings cards
✨ creative prompts
✨️ play-based tools

Because children naturally communicate through imagination and play.

Sometimes a child can express more through colours, drawings, storytelling, or noticing sensations in their body than they ever could through direct conversation.

A big part of the work is helping children build awareness of:
🌱 emotions
🌱 body sensations
🌱 safety
🌱 boundaries
🌱 nervous system responses

In ways that feel safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for them.

Children don’t always need to sit and “talk about feelings” to begin processing experiences and creating change.

Often, creativity becomes the bridge. 💛

Some days the body asks for softness before productivity.

A reminder that rest, regulation and slowing down are not luxuries; they’re part of health too.

I’ve had a cold this week, so I thought I’d share some of the reflexology points I’ve been working on myself and often use in practice for similar symptoms.

In reflexology, the toes are traditionally associated with the nose, sinuses, and throat, and are often worked alongside the lymphatic system, adrenals, lungs, chest, and digestive reflexes when the body is fighting off illness or feverish states.

These areas can be worked on both the plantar (sole) and dorsal (top) of the feet.
Reflexology is a supportive therapy that aims to encourage relaxation and the body’s natural regulatory processes while it restores balance.

If you suffer with Seasonal allergies, these reflex points may help alleviate symptoms.

For rounded areas use a press and rotate thumb technique and for other areas use a caterpillar like thumb technique.

There are many other points that may help and these are included in a full Reflexology session.

The Illeocecal Valve is a particuarlly important reflex...as the Illeocecal valve helps to maintain gut integrity, reducing systemic inflammation, and preventing the overactivation of the immune system.

• Prevents Immune Overreaction (Leaky Gut Reduction)
• Lowers Total Histamine Load
• Supports Immune Tolerance
• Reduces Chronic Inflammation

It is often recommended to avoid roughage-type foods (nuts, seeds, popcorn, raw vegetables) for a few weeks, as well as refined sugars and caffeine to help it heal.

The reflex points shown are based on reflexology principles and are intended for general guidance only. Reflexology is a complementary therapy and should not be used as a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. If you have a medical condition, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

✨️Perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.

I've been using this in my oil blend and diffuser in the treatment room this week. Many of my clients are transitioning through this time and Pink Grapefruit is one of the oils I choose alongside, lavender, clary sage and ylang Ylang. 👣

Pink grapefruit essential oil is commonly used in aromatherapy to manage several menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms, primarily by enhancing mood, increasing energy, and assisting with stress management.

Its uplifting scent and active components, such as limonene, help address the emotional and physical sluggishness often experienced during this transition.

Before using at home, please consult a doctor if you are on HRT.

Avoid ylang ylang if you have low blood pressure.

✨ Even when life feels heavy, you are allowed to rest.

✨Your worth is not measured by what you do or earn. You are enough as you are.

✨️Take this moment to breathe, to feel safe, and to let your body and mind relax. 💛
