Hypnotherapy with children often looks very different to what people imagine.
It’s not usually about closing their eyes and going into a deep trance, although as they get older it absolutely can be. But for younger children, more often, it looks like creativity, curiosity, movement, imagination, and helping a child gently reconnect with what is happening inside their body.
Before a session, I might set out:
✨ colouring pencils
✨ body outline worksheets
✨ sensory objects
✨ feelings cards
✨ creative prompts
✨️ play-based tools
Because children naturally communicate through imagination and play.
Sometimes a child can express more through colours, drawings, storytelling, or noticing sensations in their body than they ever could through direct conversation.
A big part of the work is helping children build awareness of:
🌱 emotions
🌱 body sensations
🌱 safety
🌱 boundaries
🌱 nervous system responses
In ways that feel safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for them.
Children don’t always need to sit and “talk about feelings” to begin processing experiences and creating change.
Often, creativity becomes the bridge. 💛
