Today, the trial re the owner of Legacy Funeral Directors in Hull has concluded with the owner being sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.

This serves as little justice for the poor families who were so very badly let down by this rouge trader, all of whom we hold firmly in our thoughts as they grieve and mourn their beloved departed. May indeed they now rest in peace.

As a profession, we have been lobbying government for decades to be regulated officially, as there is currently no specific government authority or regulatory body that oversees our profession, although following these heinous crimes, the government is now taking an active interest in preparing to regulate funeral directors in the UK.

Reputable and professional businesses will choose to be voluntarily regulated through a trade association.

For many years, Lucy & Tattum Funeral Directors, have been active members of the National Association of Funeral Directors.

Membership brings with it regular inspections of our Funeral Homes and a strict ‘Code of Practice’ to which we must adhere.

For many people, the death of a close family member is one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. At this time in their lives it’s vital they are cared for and supported by a professional company, who have chosen to adhere to national standards and have their facilities regularly inspected by Industry specific inspectors.
