🧠 Could a common gym supplement help treat depression?

Creatine is best known for helping build muscle, but new research suggests it may also support brain health.

Researchers reviewed five clinical trials involving 238 people with depression. Two studies found that adding creatine to standard treatment improved symptoms, while three found no significant benefit. The results are promising, but the evidence is still mixed.

Scientists think creatine may help by improving the brain’s energy supply and influencing important mood chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine. However, experts stress that it is not yet proven as a treatment for depression, and larger, longer studies are needed before it can be recommended in routine care.

🔹 The takeaway? Science is opening an interesting new door, but it’s too early to replace proven treatments with creatine supplements.
