If you’ve volunteered with us before, you might recognise these rooms. They’re our dedicated lung function spaces where we carry out Pulmonary Function Tests.
What happens during your appointment? 🫁
1️⃣ Settle in
You’ll be shown to one of our plethysmography booths - a clear, comfortable space designed to measure how your lungs move air.
2️⃣ Breathe through a mouthpiece
A small mouthpiece connects you to our testing equipment. It’s simple, clean, and easy to use.
3️⃣ Follow guided breathing steps
Our technician will talk you through a series of breathing actions. You might take a deep breath in, hold it briefly, or blow out with force.
These movements form a test called spirometry, which helps us understand how much air your lungs can hold and how quickly you can move it. Regular PFTs give us a clear picture of your lung health over time.
If you are interested in taking part in research with us and would like to take part in a lung health assessment, you can reach our time to book your slot via 0800 655 6553.
