The family of the late Michael Richards have asked me to share the details of his Funeral which are as follows:

Peacefully in hospital on 24th October after a long illness, Mike aged 77 years. Loving Husband of Janet. Caring and supportive Dad of Peter, Matthew and Andrew. Kind Father-in-Law of Lisa, Michele and Vicky and also a special Grandad of Oliver, William and Finn.
Service and Cremation takes place in the Maplewood Chapel, Stockton Crematorium on Thursday 19th November at 1:00pm.
Would friends please meet at the Crematorium Chapel. Following the service, everyone is warmly invited to continue celebrating Mike’s life at the family home.
No flowers please by request, donations in lieu if so desired to Pancreatic Cancer UK. Donations can be made and memories of Mike can be shared by visiting Mike’s online tribute page by using the QR code which can be found in the comments.

The family of the late Mick Whelan have asked me to share the details of his Funeral which are as follows:

Unexpectedly at home on 20th October, Mick aged 75 years. Caring Husband of Sheila. Devoted Dad of Dom and Rebecca. Special Father-in-Law of Sophie. Wonderful Brother of Peter, Alan and Sue and also a Fun Grandad. Mick was a Yarm legend who will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who had the pleasure to know him.
A Celebration of Mick’s life will take place in the Maplewood Chapel, Stockton Crematorium on Friday 20th November at 11:00am.
Would friends please meet at the Crematorium Chapel. Following the service, everyone is warmly invited to continue celebrating Mick’s life at The Ketton Ox in Yarm.

Peacefully in Ayresome Court Care Home on 26th October, Pat aged 89 years. Dearly beloved Wife of the late Ken. Very special Mum of Jenny and Lindsey. Much loved Granny of Hannah, James and Sophie and also a dear Sister of Valerie and the late Sylvia.
Service and Cremation takes place in the Chapel of St Hilda, Teesside Crematorium on Friday 13th November at 10:30am.
Would friends please meet at the Crematorium Chapel. Following the service, everyone is warmly invited to continue sharing memories of Pat at Eaglescliffe Golf Club.
Family flowers only please by request, donations in lieu if so desired to RSPB, RNLI or RAF Benevolent Fund. We’re out on Yarm High Street today between 12 and 4pm, proudly working alongside Royal British Legion - Royal British Legion - Stockton & Yarm Branch selling poppies

You’ll find us just outside Savers and inside Sainsbury’s, so if you’re in the high street, please pop by to say hello and get yourself a poppy to show your support for our Veterans.

It’s always lovely to see so many familiar faces supporting such an important cause and every poppy really does make a difference.

Some journeys mean more than the miles you travel.

On Tuesday, my Brother and colleague Malcolm and I travelled to Belfast to bring home our very own Hearse and Limousine. Driving them home was a moment of real emotion and pride.

When I opened David Knowles Funeral Service, I put my name to a promise: to care for people with Dignity and Kindness and to build a service our local community could trust.

Owning our own funeral vehicles is a significant investment in that promise, giving us greater flexibility as we continue to develop the personal service we provide.

I know what these cars will mean to the families who place their trust in us. They will carry someone deeply loved on their final journey, and the people closest to them through one of the hardest days of their lives. That responsibility will always matter more than anything else.

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. I have to say, reading them really did mean a lot to me.

It was an absolute honour to get to know you all and to be trusted with looking after your lovely Mum. I know how much she meant to you and I genuinely wanted to make sure everything was just right for her and for you as a family.

Your comments about the Order of Service particularly touched me. Knowing that you feel your mum would have approved is probably one of the nicest compliments we could receive. It's those little personal touches that matter so much to us.

I never take for granted the trust a family places in us, especially at such a difficult time and I'm so pleased that we were able to make things a little easier for you all.

Thank you again, not just for your lovely words, but for allowing us to be part of giving your Mum the farewell she deserved.

Take good care of yourselves and you know where we are if you ever need anything.

We're Hiring, Two Casual Funeral Service Operatives.

When I started David Knowles Funeral Service, I wanted to create something that was truly part of our local community. A Funeral Service built on trust, kindness and genuine care, where local families are looked after by people who understand the communities we serve.

As we continue to grow, I'm now looking for two caring, compassionate and reliable people to join our team.

We're incredibly proud of the relationships we've built with families and communities across Yarm, Eaglescliffe, Ingleby Barwick and the surrounding areas and it's important to me that anyone joining our team shares that same commitment to our community.

Experience isn't everything to me. What matters most is finding the right people, those who take pride in what they do, genuinely care about others and understand the responsibility that comes with supporting families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Above all, they must share our commitment to caring for every family and their loved one with Dignity and Kindness.

It was lovely to attend the blessing and riding of Yarm Fair yesterday morning, a tradition now in its 819th year.

A heartfelt thank you to Yarm Town Council and everyone who has worked hard to bring this year’s fair to our High Street.

As a local, independent service, it means a great deal to be part of a community that keeps its traditions alive. Yarm has so much history, but it’s the people who make it special.

We're proud to be supporting Rotary International's Wrap Up Teesside campaign, helping to collect unwanted coats for adults and children in our local communities who need them most.

From 17th October to 1st November, we're asking you to have a look in your wardrobe. Could a coat you no longer wear make a real difference to someone else?
