We are proud to announce that David Knowles Funeral Service has officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reinforcing our commitment to those who serve, have served and the families who support them. The Covenant is a voluntary pledge that demonstrates support for the Armed Forces community and ensures they are treated fairly and with respect.

As a local independent Funeral Director, community service has always been at the heart of what we do. Signing the Armed Forces Covenant is a natural extension of our values and reflects our gratitude for the sacrifices made by serving personnel, veterans, reservists and military families.

Through our pledge, we have committed to supporting the Armed Forces community, promoting fairness and understanding, recognising the valuable skills and experiences that veterans bring, and showing our support for Armed Forces personnel, reservists and their families. These commitments align with the Covenant's core principles that those who serve or have served should face no disadvantage and that special consideration may be appropriate for those who have given the most.

This is an important milestone for our family business and another way we can continue serving our community with the same values that guide everything we do:

It was a real honour to support you in arranging your Mum's Funeral and I am truly grateful that you placed your trust in us during such a difficult and emotional time.

I know how important it was to ensure that every detail reflected your Mum's life and wishes and I am pleased that together we were able to create a Funeral that felt right for her and yourself. Supporting you with the arrangements, the registration process and helping to ease some of the practical burdens was the least I could do at such a challenging time.

What a fantastic morning at Yarm Fun Run

We are incredibly proud to have once again been one of the sponsors of this wonderful community event, which has become such an important part of the Yarm calendar.

It was fantastic to see so many people taking part, whether running, volunteering, supporting friends and family, or simply enjoying the atmosphere. Events like this showcase everything that is great about our local community, people coming together, supporting one another and creating something truly special.

As a local independent family business, we are passionate about giving back to the communities we serve, and supporting events such as Yarm Fun Run is something we are privileged to do.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part today and a sincere thank you to Chris Walker and all the volunteers whose hard work makes this event possible year after year.

Today is a very special and proud moment for me personally and for all of us at David Knowles Funeral Service.

I’m incredibly proud to announce that my Wife, best friend and biggest supporter, Charlenne (Charlie), is officially joining our family business.

Charlie is not new to the funeral profession. In fact, our journey together first began when we met in the early 2000’s when we were both working at Co-op Funeralcare in Middlesbrough. Even back then, I saw first hand the compassion, empathy and genuine care she showed to every family she supported.

After the birth of our first son in 2004, Charlie made the decision not to return to the funeral profession and instead dedicated her career to caring for others in different ways. She worked supporting adults with disabilities before more recently becoming a Teaching Assistant in Year 2 at Beechgrove Primary School, roles that perfectly reflect the kind, patient and selfless person she is.

Anyone who knows Charlie will know she is one of the most caring people you could ever meet. Her whole life has been built around helping, supporting and caring for others and I honestly cannot think of a better person to now become part of our funeral service and support the families within our community.

For a long time, Charlie has been supporting me quietly behind the scenes as we’ve built our Funeral Service and now feels like the right time for her to officially join me on this journey.

As a Husband and Wife team, we are committed to continuing to care for local families with Dignity and Kindness. The same values that have always been at the heart of our service since we started serving our community in April 2024.

Our Funeral Service has always been about family, community and people and having Charlie alongside me makes that even more special.

We look forward to continuing to support our community together.

The family of the late Trevor Kean have asked me to share the details of his Funeral which are as follows:

‘Trev’ AKA Grumpy
(Of Stokesley. Formerly of Yarm and Hartlepool).

Peacefully in hospital on 15th May, Trev aged 83 years. Much loved Partner of the late Hilary. Loving Dad of Gary, Paul and Bev and also a special Father-in-Law, Grandad, Great Grandad and friend who will be very sadly missed.
Service and Cremation takes place in the Chapel of St Bede, Teesside Crematorium on Monday 8th June at 2:00pm.
Would friends please meet at the Crematorium Chapel.
Family flowers only please by request, donations in lieu if so desired to Great North Air Ambulance Service. What a fantastic evening at the Yarm and Eaglescliffe FC presentation night.

I was honoured to receive a framed home shirt from everyone at Yarm & Eaglescliffe FC. It means a great deal to be recognised by such a brilliant local club.

At David Knowles Funeral Service, we feel incredibly privileged to sponsor and support the Y&E and play a small part in what has been such a fantastic season. Being involved with the club, the players, volunteers and supporters has been a real pleasure, and if I’m honest, it’s made me fall in love with football again!

Local clubs like Y&E are at the heart of our community. They bring people together, create opportunities, build friendships and give so much to local families and young people. That’s why it’s so important for local businesses to support community groups, sports teams and organisations wherever we can.
