🐴 Facilitator input needed please 📚✨

I’m currently midway through finishing the Equimotional Key Stage 2 Curriculum Pack, and I would really love some honest input from facilitators, alternative provision staff, tutors, home educators, and anyone delivering learning in creative or equine-based spaces.

If you were going to invest in a full KS2 pack, what would be your absolute non-negotiables?

I want this pack to genuinely save you:

⏰ Time
💷 Money
🧠 Planning energy
🎨 Creative brainpower
📚 Curriculum stress
🐴 The “what on earth am I doing next week?” panic

The aim is for it to be a proper, useful, ready-to-use resource that supports English, Maths and Science through an equine lens, while still feeling trauma-informed, engaging, flexible and suitable for children who may not thrive in traditional classroom-style learning.

So I would love to know:

🐎 What would HAVE to be included for you to feel it was worth the money?

📋 Would you want full lesson plans?

📝 Learner workbooks?

📊 Progress tracking sheets?

🎯 Learning objectives linked to KS2?

🧩 Differentiated tasks?

🎨 Creative projects?

📁 Portfolio evidence sheets?

🏡 Parent/carer summary sheets?

🏫 School information sheets?

⭐ Certificates and celebration pages?

And then, just for extra nosiness, what bonus extras would make you think:

“Right, that has actually saved me hours of work.” 😂

Would challenge cards, choice boards, printable activities, big yard projects, visual timetables, warm-up tasks, or editable templates be useful?

I really want this to be shaped around what facilitators actually need on the ground, rather than what looks pretty in a folder and then gets abandoned like a suspicious old haynet at the back of the tack room.

Please comment below with your non-negotiables, dream extras, or even the things you’re sick of seeing in resource packs.

Your input will genuinely help me make this as useful as possible 🐴💛

How was yesterday the LONGEST day of the year?

Sorry, but no.

I haven’t even had a BBQ yet.

I’ve only just ordered a paddling pool.

I’m 26 weeks pregnant, currently shaped somewhere between “glowing earth mother” and “overfilled feed sack”, and I am absolutely not ready to be told we are now on the downward slope towards winter.

I have not done enough summer.

I have not sat outside smugly with a burger.

I have not floated about in my paddling pool like a heavily pregnant goddess with WiFi.

I have not had enough warm evenings where the horses look pretty in golden hour and I briefly forget they cost more than a small yacht.

And now the days are getting shorter?

No thank you.

I reject the seasonal admin. 🌞

The horses have only just stopped standing in mud like Victorian orphans.

The fields have only just started looking vaguely usable.

I have only just entered my “summer horse owner” era, which mostly involves sweating through my bra, being attacked by flies, drinking warm squash, and wondering whether bending down is still something my body offers as a service.

Also, who decided pregnancy and summer should happen at the same time?

Because I would like a word.

Preferably from a paddling pool.

With snacks.

Happy post-solstice, horse people. 🐴🌞

May your fly masks stay on, your horses stop inventing new ways to bankrupt you, and may nobody mention winter prep until I have had at least one BBQ and a dramatic float in my paddling pool.

Because if anyone says “the nights are drawing in now”, I may simply roll into a field and live there until September.

I’ll be the sweaty one near the water bucket with a hose in my crocs.

Excuse me, how is it almost summer solstice already? 🌞🐴

I swear my fields have only just dried out.

I have only just emotionally recovered from winter turnout.

I have only just stopped carrying hay in my bra, mud in my hair, and existential dread in my wellies.

And now apparently we’re at weekend of the longest day of the year?

Sorry, who authorised this? 😂

I’ve literally just entered spring/summer mode.

You know the one:

🌾 Checking the grass growth daily
🪰 Declaring war on flies
🧴 Buying fly spray like it’s a personality trait
🌧️ Still keeping a waterproof coat in the car because this is Britain
🐴 Thinking “lovely dry field” immediately followed by “too dry? not enough grass? too much grass? laminitis? help?”

British equestrian life is genuinely just four seasons arguing in one field.

One minute you’re knee-deep in mud questioning your life choices.

The next minute you’re sweating under a fly rug, Googling electrolytes, and wondering why the weather app is lying to your face again.

So no, I am not ready for the summer solstice.

I have only just thawed out.

Please can someone tell the UK to slow down because I am still mentally in April, wearing several layers and negotiating with a wheelbarrow stuck in the mud. 🐎🌦️

🌿 A little personal update 🌿

Hi everyone,

I’m currently going through a redundancy consultation and my final meeting is next week. If the decision goes the way it looks like it might, I’ll potentially be made redundant just two months before my maternity leave was due to start.

Which is, frankly, a lot.

Pregnancy is already a strange little cocktail of excitement, worry, hormones, heartburn and wondering whether you’ve bought enough tiny socks. Adding employment uncertainty into the mix has made this feel quite anxiety-inducing.

It means that part of my maternity leave will now likely be filled with the stress of trying to work out what employment looks like after maternity, alongside preparing to become a mum, running Equimotional, and trying not to emotionally combust over a spreadsheet.

So, I wanted to gently ask for support.

If you were already thinking of buying any Equimotional resources, workbooks, or downloads, I’ve created a code:

✨ MATERNITY40 ✨
This gives you 40% off on the shop.

Every order genuinely helps at the moment. Whether it is a 99p worksheet, a workbook, a training resource, or sharing a post, it all makes a difference.

Equimotional has always been built around care, connection, emotional honesty, and creating useful resources for facilitators, young people, families, and equine-led settings. Right now, that support means more than I can probably put into a neat little caption.

Ways you can support us:

🧡 Buy a resource if something would be useful to you
🐴 Share our posts
🌿 Tag someone who might benefit from our work
📚 Browse the shop
💬 Recommend us to a facilitator, school, yard, AP, or wellbeing setting
✨ Use code MATERNITY40

Thank you to everyone who has already supported Equimotional, bought resources, joined training, shared posts, left reviews, or quietly cheered us on from the wings.

It really does matter.

💛 Strength, resilience and vulnerability were never meant to be enemies.

But somewhere along the line, especially in business, we started treating them like they cannot sit at the same table.

🐴 Strength became “keep going.”

🐴 Resilience became “cope quietly.”

🐴 Vulnerability became “do not show too much, or people might think you are weak.”

And honestly?

That has done a lot of damage.

Because so many people are walking around trying to look strong, when really they are exhausted.

Trying to look resilient, when really they need support.

Trying to look professional, when really they are just trying to hold everything together without dropping the plate, the horse feed, the admin, the invoices, the emotions and the will to live.

And this matters deeply in our work.

Because if we are supporting people with:

✨ confidence
✨ trust
✨ grief
✨ anxiety
✨ emotional safety
✨ boundaries
✨ self-worth
✨ trauma-informed growth

Then we also need to understand our own relationship with those things.

We cannot support vulnerability in clients while secretly seeing it as weakness in ourselves.

We cannot talk about resilience if what we really mean is “carry too much for too long and pretend you are fine.”

We cannot promote strength if we only value it when it looks calm, capable and convenient for everyone else.

💛 Real strength includes honesty.

💛 Real resilience includes rest.

💛 Real vulnerability includes boundaries.

They do not cancel each other out.

They strengthen each other.

A resilient practitioner can still say, “This feels hard.”

A strong business owner can still ask for help.

A vulnerable facilitator can still hold safe boundaries.

A reflective professional can still be learning.

This is exactly why we start our Equimotional Coaches Course with vulnerability.

Because this work is not just about what we do with clients.

It is also about who we are when we show up.

The best practitioners I know are not perfect.

They are self-aware.

They are honest.

They are willing to reflect.

They are brave enough to keep learning.

And they understand that strength without softness can become armour.

Resilience without support can become burnout.

Vulnerability without boundaries can become unsafe.

But together?

They become the foundation for ethical, human, trauma-informed practice.

🐴✨ We have been exploring this in Week 1 of our Equimotional training, and it has already opened up some beautiful conversations.

If you have been thinking about joining the Equimotional Coaches Course, we have just started and there may still be time to hop on board.

Drop me a message if you want the details ❤️

Top Tip for Supervision

🔹 “𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖 𝙉𝙤𝙣-𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚”
For those stepping into equine-assisted work, supervision isn’t just a requirement—it’s a chance to deepen your insight and refine your practice. Seek a supervisor who ‘gets’ you and encourages reflection without judgment. Make a point of regularly reviewing client cases and exploring the emotional impact your work has on you. Supervision should be a safe, trusted space, so choose someone who truly aligns with your values. 🔍💬

Top Tip for Self-Care

🔹 “𝙇𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙨 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙔𝙤𝙪”
Equine-assisted practitioners know well the importance of energy and presence, but are you tuning into your own needs? Between sessions, give yourself time to decompress—take a mindful walk, breathe deeply, or spend a moment with a trusted horse friend. Self-care is cumulative; small acts create resilience over time. Remember, being at your best means recognising when you need to pause and recharge. 🌱✨

Top Tip for Marketing

🔹 “𝙇𝙚𝙩 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘼𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚”
Marketing isn’t about sales—it’s about building trust. People are drawn to realness, so share your journey, your insights, and what equine-assisted work means to you. Visual storytelling is key: show glimpses of life with horses, your passion for mental wellbeing, and honest reflections. Build connections with followers by making each post a mini ‘welcome’ into your world. 💫📷

Top Tip for Session Planning

🔹 “𝘽𝙚 𝙁𝙡𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚: 𝙇𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙐𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙊𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮”
As practitioners, there’s a tendency to over-plan to ensure the session goes ‘well.’ But sometimes, it’s more impactful to go with the flow, allowing the client and the horses to guide the direction. Stay present, stay curious, and ask, “What does this moment need?” rather than, “What did I plan?” By making space for spontaneity, we’re letting clients feel truly seen and heard. 🐴🌾

Top Tip for Being Strength-Based

🔹 “𝙃𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙞𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙧 𝙐𝙥 𝙩𝙤 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨’ 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝𝙨”
People grow when they feel their strengths are valued. In every session, consciously acknowledge clients’ resilience, creativity, and courage. Instead of framing behaviours as ‘problems,’ highlight the skills they’re showing. “I see how brave you are” or “That was a fantastic idea!” goes a long way. Strength-based doesn’t mean ignoring challenges; it means anchoring clients in their own abilities. 💪💫

Top Tip for Building a Supportive Network

🔹 “𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙁𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣”
Equine-assisted work can sometimes feel isolating. Building a network of like-minded practitioners, whether online or locally, creates a sense of belonging. Regularly connect with others in your field, exchange ideas, and be there to uplift one another. There’s immense power in shared experiences and in knowing you’re not alone on this journey. 🌍🤝

Finally......

“𝙀𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙅𝙤𝙮: 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙖 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙏𝙤𝙤𝙡”

𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙟𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮—𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚𝙡𝙮, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙟𝙤𝙮. 𝘿𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩! 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨. 𝙇𝙚𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙬𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙨.
