It's Cervical Screening Awareness Week - the perfect time to announce our next walk in clinic in York!

🕓 4pm to 7pm
📍 Monkgate Health Centre, YO31 7PB

All you need to come along is:
✅ To have received your reminder (usually via the NHS app)
✅ Your NHS number

You may have seen recent news reporting that those who receive the HPV vaccine now face an "almost zero" risk of dying from cervical cancer before the age of 30. This is fantastic news and shows just how effective prevention can be.

Cervical screening also plays an important role. Screening helps to find changes in the cervix before they become cancer. It's so important, even if you have been vaccinated, to stay up to date with your smears. If you're due and have been putting it off, take this as your sign to get it ticked off your to do list.

Did you know we run walk in cervical screening (smear test) clinics? Our next one in York is:

⏰ 9am - 12pm.

Around 1 in 3 people in England are currently overdue their screening. If that's you, and your cervical screening has been sitting on your to-do list for a while, this is a your sign to come and get it done. Screening is quick and could save your life!

To come along, you’ll just need:
✅ Your screening invite (usually on the NHS App, or by letter if you’re overdue)
✅ Your NHS number

You don't need:
❌ Loads of enthusiasm - we get it, and will have you in and out in no time!
❌ A fresh wax - come as you are, we're just happy to see you.

If you’d rather book a time instead, that’s absolutely fine too – just give us a call on 01904 721111. We have clinics 6 days a week across the whole of the region, so we're bound to fit you in at a good time for you.

Good news! The contraceptive implant is now licensed for up to 5 years, instead of 3 years, meaning if you have it fitted, you don’t need a new one so soon.

The implant is a small plastic rod that is fitted into your upper arm. It releases progestogen which stops your ovaries releasing an egg.

The Nexplanon® implant is now licensed for 5 years in the UK, following strong evidence showing it remains safe and effective, with no pregnancies reported in years 4–5 of use.

This gives women more choice and flexibility when considering their contraceptive options, while reducing unnecessary appointments.
