We’ve recently introduced a VR headset into our activities, and the reactions from our residents have been absolutely priceless🥰

Virtual Reality brings so many wonderful benefits to care home life:
💙 Boosts wellbeing by reducing stress and promoting relaxation
🧠 Stimulates memory through immersive, familiar experiences
😊 Encourages social interaction as residents share their adventures
🌍 Opens up the world for those who may no longer be able to travel
🎉 Adds excitement and fun to activity sessions

It’s been incredible to see the joy, curiosity and conversation that VR sparks, proving that meaningful experiences can be created in all sorts of modern ways️💜

🌟Intergenerational fun with Ralph Butterfield Primary School!🌟

Each month we welcome the wonderful children from Ralph Butterfield Primary School for a morning of intergenerational games and activities, and it’s always a highlight for our residents💛

This month, the children arrived with the sweetest surprise… a special “hugger jumper” filled with positive messages and kind words for our residents. Their thoughtfulness meant so much, and in return our residents created some beautiful artwork as a heartfelt thank you🎨✨

Intergenerational activities like these bring so many benefits - boosting confidence, sparking conversation, reducing loneliness, and creating meaningful connections across generations. The pictures say it all🥰

Dementia Workshop🧠💙

Yesterday, Stacey - our wonderful Regional Trainer, hosted a dementia workshop and information session for families, friends, and our wider community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and openly shared their experiences. These sessions are designed for anyone affected by dementia or simply wishing to learn more about the condition and how best to support those living with it💙

If you weren’t able to make yesterday’s workshop, our sister homes are hosting their sessions today and tomorrow. You’re very welcome to attend — just give the homes a call:

Olive is 1️⃣0️⃣2️⃣!

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating our wonderful Olive’s 102nd birthday, and what a party it was! The room was full of laughter, music, cake and plenty of love for this incredible lady🎂

We’re convinced Olive has been fibbing on her birthday certificate… she doesn’t look a day over 21 ❤️✨

Challenge 26 – Outdoor Olympics 🏅

In true British style, the one day it decides to rain is of course the day of our Outdoor Olympics here at Haxby Hall ☔️

That didn’t stop our residents, staff, and families from getting stuck into some healthy competition for our July Challenge - inside instead🤩

A huge well done to everyone who took part, it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and to hear laughter filling our home 😍
