Listen, learn and understand all the aspects of anxiety.

Learning about anxiety and listening to your body and the signals it is sending during this time.
Sit with it and ask yourself if these feelings are valid?

Let me know how you best deal with anxiety..

As we end Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK, we’re shifting the conversation from ‘knowing’ to ‘doing.’

In the therapy room, we talk a lot about tools, but tools only work if we pick them up.
So let’s make it easy and focus on micro-actions for your wellbeing.

Which of these 3 will you try today?
Save this post for when you need a reminder to pause.

Not all therapy happens sitting still.

Walk and Talk Therapy combines conversation with gentle movement outdoors, creating space for reflection in a way that can feel more natural and less intense than a traditional therapy room.

Research shows that both movement and time in nature can help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress and support emotional processing.

For some people, walking side by side makes it easier to talk, think and simply breathe.

Following Earth Day last week, this is a reminder that caring for our mental health and connecting with the natural world can go hand in hand.

Save this if being outside helps you feel more grounded.

There is a common misconception that therapy is about "erasing" the difficult parts of our past.

But we don't heal by tearing out the pages. We heal by learning how to read them differently and then deciding that those chapters don't get to dictate the ending.

As a therapist (with a background in literature), I see our lives as unfolding narratives and my role is to be your co-author.

Whether we are:
- Walking and talking through the quiet paths of York,
- Exploring the "unspoken" through creative work, or
- Understanding the unique rhythm of your mind...
..the goal remains the same: to help you find the words for what you’ve been through, so you can choose the words for where you’re going.

You can’t rewrite the beginning but the next chapter belongs to you.

Let’s find the right words together.

Many people come to therapy believing they need to explain or justify how they feel.

What often goes unnoticed are the small patterns that developed to help them cope. Apologising for emotions, laughing through painful experiences or minimising what hurt are not weaknesses.
These are learned ways of staying safe.

Therapy creates space to slow down and gently notice these patterns without judgement. Awareness is often the first step toward change.

If any part of this felt familiar, save this as a reminder that your responses make sense and support is allowed to exist before things reach breaking point.

Recent reports are highlighting how climate change is affecting not only the planet but our mental health too.

Rising temperatures, environmental uncertainty and constant exposure to difficult news can contribute to anxiety, grief and a sense of helplessness about the future. These emotional responses are increasingly recognised as real and understandable human reactions.

Feeling worried about the world you live in is not irrational. It is often a sign of awareness, care and connection.

Supporting mental health in the context of climate change does not mean ignoring reality. It means finding ways to stay grounded within it.

Spending time in nature, connecting with others and taking small meaningful actions can help transform overwhelm into calm.

Caring for the planet also includes caring for the people living on it, including yourself.

We often watch Stranger Things for the monsters and the 80s nostalgia but beneath the surface, it’s one of the most powerful depictions of trauma on screen.

From Eleven’s search for identity to Max’s battle with the "inner critic" (aka Vecna), the show mirrors the very real ways we navigate pain, isolation and recovery.

In my latest blog, I’m breaking down the psychology of this hit show and what it teaches us about our own path to healing:
