🌈 When anxiety looks different in children 🌈
Anxiety in children doesn’t always look like worry or fear. Sometimes it shows up as:
✨ Big emotions or frequent meltdowns
✨ Avoiding school, activities, or new experiences
✨ Struggling with changes in routine
✨ Physical symptoms like tummy aches, headaches, feeling sick, or tiredness
✨ Irritability, anger, or shutting down
✨ Needing lots of reassurance
✨ Perfectionism or fear of making mistakes
✨ Difficulty explaining how they feel
For neurodivergent children, anxiety can sometimes be harder to recognise. Sensory overwhelm, masking, communication differences, difficulties with uncertainty, or feeling misunderstood can all contribute to a child feeling overwhelmed.
Counselling can provide a safe, supportive space where children can explore their feelings, build emotional awareness, develop coping strategies, and feel understood — at their own pace. 💛
Every child’s experience is unique. Understanding the reason behind the behaviour is often the first step towards helping them feel safe and supported.
💬 If you’re concerned about your child’s emotional wellbeing, support is available.

Therapy should feel safe… not clinical or intimidating.

I offer a warm, homely space where you can sit, breathe, and just be yourself. A place where you’re not judged, rushed, or expected to have the “right words.”

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, grief, exam stress, bullying, or exploring neurodiversity, this is a space where your experiences are heard and respected.

Sometimes it’s the comfort of a calm room, a soft chair, and someone truly listening that makes it easier to open up.

You don’t have to hold it all together here.
You can come exactly as you are.

🌿 A safe space to talk. A place to feel understood.

As a therapist, I often get asked what people come to therapy for the most. While every person’s story is unique, there are some common themes that come up time and time again:

✨ Anxiety & overwhelm – that constant feeling of being “on edge” or stuck in survival mode
💔 Low mood & depression – feeling flat, disconnected, or weighed down
🧠 Neurodiversity – understanding ADHD, autism, and how your brain works
🎓 Exam stress & pressure – especially for children and young people navigating expectations
👥 Bullying & social struggles – in school, work, or relationships
🕊️ Grief & loss – not just bereavement, but any significant life change
💬 Self-esteem & identity – “Who am I?” and “Am I good enough?”
❤️ Relationship difficulties – with partners, family, or even ourselves

Therapy isn’t about having something “wrong” with you — it’s about having a space where you can make sense of what you’re carrying.

You don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable.
You’re allowed to get support simply because things feel hard.

🌿 Whether you’re a child, young person, or adult, you deserve to feel heard, understood, and supported.

Two photos.
Two versions of me.
Both real. Both valid. Both still becoming.

It’s easy to look at pictures of ourselves and see only the differences — how we’ve changed, what we’ve lost, what we wish was different. But change is not failure. It’s evidence of living.

In therapy, this comes up so often.

We hold onto old versions of ourselves: ✨ The one who coped better
✨ The one who felt happier
✨ The one before the grief, the stress, the overwhelm

And we wonder why we don’t feel like that anymore.

But we are not meant to stay the same.

We are shaped by: – the experiences we’ve had
– the challenges we’ve faced
– the ways we’ve had to adapt to survive

Growth doesn’t always feel like progress. Sometimes it looks like exhaustion, like starting again, like not recognising yourself for a while.

But even then — you are still evolving.
Therapy isn’t about going back to who you were.
It’s about understanding who you are now…
and gently exploring who you’re becoming.

Both versions of you deserve compassion. And so do all the ones still to come.

Working with children in therapy is never about “fixing” them — it’s about creating a space where they feel seen, safe, and understood.

Children today are carrying more than we often realise.

✨ Exam stress that feels overwhelming
✨ Bullying that chips away at confidence and self-worth
✨ Grief that they don’t yet have the words to express
✨ The daily challenge of navigating a world not built for their neurodiversity

These experiences don’t always come out in words. They show up in behaviour, in withdrawal, in anger, in anxiety… in silence.

In the therapy room, we slow things down.

We use creativity, play, and gentle conversation to help children: 🧠 make sense of big feelings
💬 find their voice
🌱 build resilience at their own pace
❤️ feel accepted exactly as they are

For neurodivergent children especially, therapy isn’t about changing who they are — it’s about understanding how they experience the world and supporting them in a way that truly fits.

Every child deserves a space where they don’t have to mask, perform, or cope alone.

Because when a child feels understood, everything begins to shift.

Living with chronic pain or illness changes more than just your body — it affects your whole world.
The plans you have to cancel.
The energy you have to constantly manage.
The frustration of not being able to do what you “used to”.
It’s something I understand not just professionally, but personally too 💛
And one thing I know for sure is this — the emotional impact is just as real as the physical.
The grief.
The guilt.
The pressure to keep going when your body is asking you to slow down.
You are not weak for finding it hard.
You are human, navigating something incredibly challenging.
In therapy, I offer a space where you don’t have to minimise what you’re going through — a space where you can be honest, supported, and understood.

If your child is struggling with school right now, you’re probably feeling it too.
The worry.
The frustration.
The “what do I do to help them?”
Whether it’s bullying, exam stress, or your child feeling overwhelmed or misunderstood — especially if they’re neurodivergent — it can feel like a constant battle.
And sometimes, despite your best efforts, nothing seems to ease it.
You’re not failing as a parent 💛
And your child isn’t failing either.
They may just need the right kind of support.
I offer a safe, neuro-affirming space for children to explore what’s going on, build confidence, and feel understood — without pressure or judgement.

As the weekend arrives, notice how you’re really feeling — not how you think you should feel.
For some, weekends bring relief.
For others, they bring quiet… and in that quiet, everything else gets louder.
The anxiety.
The grief.
The overthinking.
The exhaustion from holding it all together all week.
If that resonates, you’re not alone 💛
You don’t need to fix everything this weekend.
You don’t need to have the answers.
Start with something smaller: ✨ A moment to breathe
✨ A pause without pressure
✨ A little more kindness towards yourself
And if you’re finding it hard to sit with what’s coming up, that’s where support can really help.
I offer a neuro-affirming, compassionate space for both adults and children — whether you're navigating anxiety, loss, or just feeling overwhelmed.
