Cancer Survivors Day: David’s Story 💙

David is known for his curiosity, his humour, and his love of discovering new places, from railway trips to safari parks, always researching and documenting everything in his scrapbooks.

In recent years, he faced one of life’s biggest challenges: a diagnosis of bowel cancer.

Through months of treatment and major surgery, David showed a quiet kind of strength. He never complained, never asked for pain relief, and stayed true to himself throughout.

When doctors explained his diagnosis, David listened calmly before asking one question:

“Can I still have my cans?”

For those who know him, it said everything.

Behind the scenes, his support team stood beside him every step of the way, advocating in appointments, ensuring familiar faces were always there, and supporting him with honesty, trust and care.

As one colleague shared:

“The only way you can treat somebody in that situation is with love.”

Today, David proudly calls himself a survivor.

His story is a reminder that surviving cancer isn’t just about treatment, it’s about people, relationships, and never facing the unknown alone.

💚 We’re so proud of Chloe! 💚

Chloe, who volunteers every single week at Taff Bargoed Foodbank , has been incredibly busy recently raising money to support the vital work they do, and her passion and commitment have been truly inspiring.

Through baking her own homemade treats, collecting donations, selling raffle tickets, and managing the stalls, Chloe put so much heart and effort into the fundraiser. It was wonderful to see so many people stopping by, browsing the amazing goods that had been donated to raise money and Helen brought in some amazing looking cupcakes to sell too!

Thanks to Chloe’s hard work and the generosity of everyone who supported the event, an incredible £700 was raised to help Taff Bargoed Foodbank continue supporting people in the local community.

Her dedication reflects everything we stand for, compassion, community spirit, and making a positive difference together.

👏 Well done, Chloe you should be so proud.

We support adults with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs and mental health conditions. As we continue to grow and shape supportive homes across South Wales, we are delighted to be recruiting three Appointed Care Home Managers who will champion our values and help people live their lives with confidence and choice.

💛 What you will do

Lead warm, inclusive homes
Support and develop a dedicated staff team
Build positive relationships with families and professionals
Oversee personalised care plans and day to day support
Ensure safe, consistent and high quality support
Take part in the on call rota
Promote dignity, empowerment and genuine human connection

⭐ Experience we are looking for
QCF Level 5, gained or working towards
Experience managing a supported living service
Experience with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Acquired Brain Injury
Strong rota management
Full driving licence

💛 What we offer
£37,000 per annum
40 hours per week
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Training and development

Free onsite parking

Whether someone needs a little day‑to‑day support or more comprehensive round‑the‑clock care, we focus on supporting them live with confidence, independence and a sense of belonging in their own home. ✨
