it has been weeks since we have had a new conformed case of Covid 19 in Grenada. Is this good news? Well I guess it is and the Covid Team is doing good work. I guess the people of Grenada also has to be congratulated for the part they have played in keeping us free of new cases.

But are we out of the woods? I don't think so and I wonder if we are really lucky to have so few confirmed cases at present. The general view is that things are back to normal and anything goes. We need to reopen the economy so the buses are back and there is going to be some compromise with our social distancing.

But even the cars I have noticed are being packed and are not obeying the advice of the Covid team at a time that we are looking to reopen our airport, more Grenadian workers and stranded businessmen are returning from abroad and some parts of the school system and other parts of the economy are opening up.

All this is bad enough but the persistent Civil Rights demonstrations in the United States and indeed all over the world demands that we have to increase our reliance on good luck if Grenada is to remain safe. Well it's either that or we have to return to the basic Covid guidelines which we know so well.

We continue to thank the people of Grenada who have battled the Covid 19 by keeping to the recommendations from the Ministry of health. Those of you who have not done your part, you know who you are, think of your relatives especially the senior ones and your friends and neighbours.

Doctor's office is now open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (8.00am to 12.00 noon) by appointment only. Please call for an appointment and information on our new location at Old Fort, St. Georges. which has convenient parking.

A friend of mine was concerned that Grenada police were pulling over cars to suggest that the two occupants should not both be in the front seat. In some cases they were married and the police may not have shown discretion as we would expect that they would be even closer at home. Nevertheless, maybe the police thought that the couple should be setting a better example to others, because the Covid19 regulations demand that only one passenger or driver per seat row.

The issue of safety here was social distancing, which indicates that there should be at least six feet between persons. Now, not many cars will allow six feet between passengers or between passenger and driver, but we do the best we can. The next best thing is to have face masks or coverings. If a person is coughing, then they should wear a facial mask. However, the general public are now all being asked to wear masks when they leave home.

I remember having this discussion before when we were hit with other respiratory viruses, which are spread by droplets when people cough or sneeze. The question is really to explain the difference between airborne infection where the virus lingers in the air, and droplet infection which can only infect persons nearby. In my mind, there is no clear boundary between the two and it is safer to be safe than sorry. "Hope for the best but prepare for the worst."

My advice: STAY HOME if you can but if you have to go out please observe social distancing and wear a mask.

Our Minister of Health was on the National Radio and TV 30 minutes ago to let us know that the confirmed total number of Covid19 cases in Grenada is now 12.

Community transmission has occurred, as a local taxi driver who did not travel, is now positive for the virus. Some of us are only convinced when the evidence is close to home. Well the time has arrived. Some might say it is already too late but it is never too late.

Let us be serious about social distancing. There is time for Carnival and social proximity but that time is not now. This is the time for regular hand washing, social distancing and responsible action.

If we do not do our part now, then our senior friends, our parents and grandparents will pay the highest toll. Think about it: are the lives of those who sacrificed for us, now worth more than a party or a picnic? Do we really need the police to get us to behave?

Covid 19 is creating history all over the globe. Here in Grenada a small island in the Caribbean which I call home, I have been looking and waiting for the virus to reach us, Like a dream or a movie it has finally reached us and many of us adults are acting like children. we refuse to respond to the Ministry of Health's request for social distancing and seem to ignore the fact that we already have 9 cases on the Island.My posts are my way of dealing with the Novel Coronavirus and Covid 19

We we go shopping, we should use a supermarket, shop or gas station with security guards and which looks peaceful. If things look disorganized or disorderly then move to another shop. People are anxious and sometimes get angry, its human nature, so look for another place or wait to see if things clear up. Remember to shop with clean hands and maintain social distancing.

It is always a good idea to get some canned food as well as fresh or frozen foods but this depends on your kitchen facilities and meal plan. When you get home your work is not
yet done, you need to wash your hands, get your food out of the carry bags. Wash or discard the bags. Finally wash your shopping clothes, hang then in the sun and have a shower.
