THE THORN IN THE FLESH
Every child of God has some issue they are dealing with. Apostle Paul used metaphor to describe it as a thorn in the flesh. It was to describe the discomfort associated with a particular situation. A "thorn in the flesh" can be described as a persistent, painful annoying or provoking situation, chronic problem, or a difficult person that constantly causes you trouble and makes life challenging or uncomfortable for you and that person's position in your life makes it difficult to be easily removed.
II Corinthians 12:7-9 NKJV
_And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. [8] Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. [9] And He said to me, βMy grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.β Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me._
Apostle Paul was put into that situation by GOD for a purpose. Even though he didn't mention the particular situation, which may have been personal but he learnt to live with it because GOD gave him grace (in this context was help, psychological strength) for it.
GOD knows what He is doing in our lives and with our lives. It is not everything we can understand, and it is not every issue we can pray away. Some of it, we need to learn to live with it and allow its purpose to have its way in our lives. The thorn in the flesh was to humble Paul from being proud because of the much and deep spiritual exposures and revelations. Sometimes, God allows certain situations in our lives to help us to change our mindset, overcome certain weaknesses or behaviours, and transform our lives; it is a learning phase and not a complaining stage.
Let us change our attitudes towards challenges that confront us. Let us interpret everything from God's perspective to our advantage. Don't let a persistent bitter experience make you bitter. (This does not relate anyway with physical abuse because God will never put us in a situation that puts our lives at risk).
Let's change our mindset about persistent issues that confront us. If GOD allowed it, then it would turn out for our good. TODAY IT MAYBE A THORN, BUT TOMORROW IT WILL BE A CROWN π
It is challenging. It is difficult. Why me; why you? I know. Tomorrow, we will understand our thorns. Every thorn carries its grace and never fight your thorns because it can hurt more in the process. π€
