2025 Annual Performance Review

Today, the Volta Regional Hospital, Hohoe held its 2025 Annual Performance Review at the Conference Hall, bringing together management, stakeholders, partner institutions, and staff to reflect on our performance and strategic direction.
Under the theme:
“Strengthening the Primary Healthcare System for Improved Access to Quality Health Service Delivery: The Role of the Networks of Practice (NoPs)”,
the hospital presented departmental reports from Public Health, Maternity, Emergency, Pharmacy, Finance, Quality Improvement, and more — alongside discussions on client satisfaction and overall hospital performance.
Key highlights from 2025 included:
✔️ Zero maternal mortality
✔️ Increased admissions and major surgeries
✔️ Reduced institutional mortality rate
✔️ Significant decline in teenage pregnancy
✔️ Expansion of critical services including Dialysis and in-house medical oxygen production
While celebrating these gains, we also reflected candidly on infrastructure, equipment, and human resource gaps — reaffirming our commitment to continuous improvement.
We are grateful to our Chairperson, Management, the Regional Health Directorate, municipal stakeholders, partner institutions, and dedicated staff whose collaboration makes progress possible.
If more is given, much more will be achieved.

A Night of Healing, Hope, and Harmonies! 🏥🎶✨

The Volta Regional Hospital family, on 17th December, 2025, traded our stethoscopes and scrubs for hymn sheets and highlife! Our annual Staff Carols Service was truly a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate the season of love.

From the moving lessons read by our staff across cadres to the hilarious "Medical Remix" of the 12 Days of Christmas by our Prescribers and the beautiful rendition of Long time ago in Bethlehem by our Orderlies and Security, it was a joy to see the other side of our hardworking team.

Healing isn't always just about medicine; sometimes, it's about coming together as a family.

FAMILIARIZATION VISIT BY THE MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO THE VOLTA REGIONAL HOSPITAL, HOHOE

On Monday, 4th August 2025, the Volta Regional Hospital (VRH), Hohoe, welcomed the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Prosper Kumi, and his delegation, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, on a working visit to the facility. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration, deepen intersectoral partnerships, and explore ways to improve healthcare delivery in the municipality.

The MCE and his team were received by the hospital’s management, led by the recently appointed Medical Director, Dr. Aiden Suntaa Saanwie, who officially resumed duty less than a month ago. The meeting provided an opportunity for the MCE to familiarize himself with the hospital’s leadership, understand its operational challenges, and reaffirm the assembly’s commitment to health development in the municipality.

Key Issues Discussed were :
1. Intersectoral Partnerships for Development
2. State of key Health Indicators
3. Human Resource Gaps
4. Staff Welfare
5. Water and Sanitation

In his remarks, Hon. Prosper Kumi praised the commitment and resilience of the staff and assured the hospital of the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate and address pressing needs. He emphasized that health remained a top priority on his developmental agenda.

The leadership of VRH expressed gratitude for the visit and looked forward to stronger engagement with the Assembly as the hospital continues to serve as the principal referral center in the Volta Region.
