Today, 8th August 2026, Management and staff of Suhum Government Hospital, led by the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ahmed Tijani Sulemana, joined the bereaved family to pay our final respects to our dear colleague, the late Madam Zugbenu Sophia, who sadly passed away.

Late Madam Sophia was a dedicated, hardworking, result-oriented, and highly dependable staff member who served at the Eye Unit of the hospital for several years. Her commitment to duty, professionalism, and willingness to contribute to the wellbeing of patients and colleagues made her a valued member of the Suhum Government Hospital family.

As we bid her farewell, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family.

May the gentle soul of our dear colleague, Madam Zugbenu Sophia, rest peacefully in the bosom of the Almighty God.

As part of our routine staff development and capacity-building initiatives to enhance our staff knowledge and skills to improve quality healthcare delivery, the In-Service Training Unit, in collaboration with Unicom Pharmaceutical, today organized an educational training session on Pharmacovigilance for staff of the facility.

The training was designed to strengthen staff understanding of pharmacovigilance, which involves the detection, assessment, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects or any other medicine-related problems. It also emphasized the importance of drug safety monitoring after medicines have been introduced to the market and are being used by the general public.

This important session sought to equip staff with the necessary knowledge to identify, report, and manage adverse drug reactions effectively, thereby promoting patient safety and quality healthcare service delivery.

The program was further enriched by the presence of officials from the Food and Drugs Authority Ghana (FDA), whose participation significantly enhanced the training through their expert insights and valuable contributions.
