CAN YOUR PERIOD CAUSE ANEMIA?

A period that lasts between two to eight days most likely will not cause anemia. However, if your period is lasting more than 10 days per month or you’re experiencing bleeding between menstrual cycles, you could potentially develop anemia. A common condition called uterine fibroids often causes heavy or lengthy periods. In many cases, uterine fibroids can cause heavy, prolonged periods or bleeding between menstrual cycles which can contribute to iron-deficiency anemia. If this is occurring, talk to your doctor about taking vitamins for anemia.

Some people may not even realize they have it and may think their fatigue or sleepiness is just a normal part of their cycle. If this feeling of tiredness is impacting your daily routine, you need to let you doctor know immediately.

Mild anemia is usually asymptomatic and most patients don’t even know they have it. Symptoms will start to set in when red blood cells reduce in number as a result of the anemia progresses. Since red blood cells are responsible for delivering oxygen to the body, when there aren’t enough red blood cells there isn’t enough oxygen for all the cells in our body. There are many symptoms of anemia which can include dizziness, shortness of breath, fatigue, pale skin, and certain food cravings. Taking vitamins for anemia like iron can help with these symptoms over time, which is why daily vitamins for women are necessary.

*AN ARMY COMMANDING OFFICER TOLD ME TWO THINGS HE ALWAYS TELLS HIS COLLEAGUES WHICH REALLY STRUCK A DEEP CHORD*

He said ....

*1.*
Everyday before you go to bed, fix your uniform and hang it up on the wall opposite your bed.

When you get into bed look at that uniform and ask yourself.... What happens if I don't wear this uniform and try to enter any army installation..?

The answer is far from being saluted! You will be stopped at the gate and questioned!

And if another person wears this uniform and walks past the quarter guard he will get a salute.

So the salute was not for you it was for the uniform hanging on that wall which made you what you are but remember it's not going to be yours forever! It will go away one day...

So, prepare yourself for it!!

*2.*
Every day when you finish work make every one leave your office.
Get up from your chair, walk across to the other side, sit down and look at your chair.

There were so many orders you passed today thinking they were very important...

But tomorrow someone else will sit on that same chair and may reverse all your orders rubbishing them!

The orders you passed thinking you were an important person was actually the chair which was passing them. And that chair is only temporary! It's not going to be yours forever! It just gave you some temporary powers which will be gone the moment you leave the chair.

Use the powers given to you judiciously.

Use it to write your name in GOLD.

Use it to wipe away tears from the faces of the less privileged in our society.

Use it for nation building and not with arrogance to prove your superiority!

*May I ask you*

What are you using your uniform or chair for today?

- Are you using them to bring people down and show them where power lies?

- Are you using them to help friends and cronies even when it is not their time and just because they salute you every morning?

- Are you using them to divide and rule and create enemity?

*- What are you using them for?*

- Remember the person today you are using your uniform or chair to destroy may be the one that will tomorrow supervise your child, nephew, niece, grandson, granddaughter, stepchild, your sister or brother.

- How will you feel if same is repeated on all these people?

*- Think, my brothers and sisters, think. For you do not know tomorrow.*

*- Use your uniform or chair to promote the betterment of all.*

- Be a father, mother, sister, brother, a friend to all.

Be an honest judge.
Hear all sides of every story.

Fear your creator.

- Hate none, love all. Remember, Tomorrow is unknown... Copied

ASIDE KNOWING YOUR GENOTYPE BEFORE MARRIAGE, THERE'S NEED FOR ONE TO KNOW HER RHESUS FACTOR! RHESUS FACTOR INCOMPATIBILITY IS A LEADING CAUSE OF MISCARRIAGE! NOT ALWAYS YOUR VILLAGE PEOPLE! PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THIS....:

Rhesus Factor is an antigen that exists on the surface of red blood cells in most people (about 85% of humans). It is also referred to as Rh Factor. People who have the Rh have “positive” (+) blood types, such as A+, O+ or B+ are said to be rhesus Factor positive, while those who have the Rh “negative” (-) blood types, such as A–, O– or AB– are said to be rhesus factor negative . The “+” and “-” in front of the blood group is the Rhesus factor. Generally, we have A+, A–, B+, B–, AB+, AB–, O+ and O–. Rhesus factor is genetic in nature. It is inherited from the parents, emphatically the father.

How does Rhesus Factor cause miscarriage?

If a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh–, there wouldn’t be any problem. However, if a Rh– woman is impregnated by a man with Rh+, there would be a problem if the baby inherits Rh+ from the father . We have here what is medically called Rhesus Factor Incompatibility. The baby would obviously be Rh+. During child birth, once the baby’s Rh+ comes in contact with the woman Rh- during delivery, the antibodies are immediately activated by the woman’s body’s immune system.

The activated antibodies would see the new Rh+ as foreign body or a threat and consequently they would be at alert to attack and get rid of the foreign body. Unfortunately as such, after this particular child birth, the woman would keep having miscarriages because the activated antibodies would see subsequent Rh+ pregnancies as foreign bodies and would keep fighting and taking them off.

Women with Rh activated antibodies are said to be Rh sensitized and once these antibodies are activated , they can never be deactivated until the woman dies. Rh induced antibodies are activated in a Rh- woman by child birth, abortion, miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.

If a Rh– woman commits an abortion for a Rh+ man and the antibodies are activated in her system, the woman might end up childless throughout her life except if she later marries another man with with the same Rh–. The possibility of a Rh– woman finding a Rh– man is slim as about 85% of human beings are Rh+. This is a warning to our young girls who commits abortions all in the name of boyfriend-girlfriend relationships.

If you’re a woman with Rh– and your fiance is Rh+, and you haven’t committed abortion for him and you don’t want to leave him, then, you need to take note of the following:

In order to prevent the activation of the antibodies, doctors would give women in this category an injection called Rhogam during and after pregnancy to prevent spontaneous abortion due to Rhesus factor incompatibility. The injection is normally administered 28 weeks into pregnancy, 72 hours after delivery, after ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage or abortion. If the injection is not administered and the antibodies are activated, they would never be deactivated.

In many African cultures up till today, women who are so unfortunate to find themselves having serial spontaneous abortions due to Rhesus factor incompatibility are considered witches by some of their people. Some of the women would accuse their in-laws of being behind their predicament.

So, if you’re a woman with Rh– , you need to be very careful. It might be difficult for you to get a husband with a Rh– because about 85% of human beings are Rh+. So, in order not to find yourself in the aforementioned problem, put all that have been said at the back of your mind and go for genetic counselling. If you have a daughter or a sister with Rh–, counsel them on Rhesus Factor Incompatibility and the dangers lying therein.

It should also be noted that a Rh– person(man or woman) cannot receive blood donation from a Rh+ person even if they have the same blood group. The consequence of such blood transfusion is fatal. It would lead to death as the blood would clot. This is due to the incompatibility in their Rhesus factor.
