But here’s the interesting part:
It’s not necessarily about splitting everything 50–50.
Research suggests that our perception of fairness and how satisfied we feel with the arrangement may matter more than simply counting who did what.
And “sharing the load” is not just about doing. There is the physical work. But there is also:
noticing.
remembering.
planning.
anticipating.
organising.
The invisible work counts too!
So equality in a relationship doesn’t always look like:
“I did five things.
You did five things.”
It can look like:
We both notice.
We both initiate.
We both take responsibility.
