~Navratri
Today in India is the last day of Navratri
Navratri unfolds over 9 sacred nights,
each dedicated to a different form
of the Divine Mother,
each representing a stage of our own
spiritual awakening...
From strength and courage
to wisdom, compassion, and self-realization.
As the journey comes to an end,
Kanya Puja is performed,
where young girls are honored
as living embodiments of the Goddess (Durga),
and boys as Bhairavas (Shiva).
Offerings once made to the divine
are now given to them.
The washing of the feet, the offering of tilak, sacred thread, food, etc.,
remind us of the obvious truth:
That the divine is not distant or unknown.
It is simple, pure, and already present
within each and everyone of us....
