This is a photo of me right before starting my Advanced Open Water certification in Roatán, Honduras.
Though I had finished the classroom component, my mind couldn’t possibly imagine what was yet to come…
How it would feel to dive deeper, to 100+ feet below the surface. To crack and peel the shell off a raw egg and witness how the pressure kept the yolk intact. To swim through a shipwreck.
Like life, scuba diving brings so much unknown.
It opens the door to an unbelievable world that cannot be fully appreciated, unless experienced.
It carries a degree of risk, as well.
Sometimes, risk and fear keeps us from moving into the unknown.
We consciously or subconsciously choose to stay in the “known,” where things are familiar.
But familiar doesn’t always mean better.
It just means familiar.
Standing at the edge of the unknown is standing at the edge of possibility.
Possibilities our mind cannot even predict or comprehend…
When I find myself automatically wanting to return to what feels familiar, I try to remember moments like these when I was brave enough to push through and try something new.
I remember WHY I value venturing into the unknown…
I lean into the discomfort…
And then, I trust. ✨✨✨
