The Guyana Foundation!

It’s my absolute pleasure to introduce to you The Guyana Foundation run by Mrs. Supriya Singh-Bodden out of West Coast Demerara, Guyana. This foundation was the first organization I was personally in touch when starting with this protect. TGF has been able to provide me the safe space to educate myself and motivate this project back to its feet. The Guyana Foundation has been doing its part in mental health advocacy direct in Guyana for almost 10 years now. This organization is nationally recognized for its hard work and dedication to the awareness and progression of mental health advocacy through Guyana itself. I would like to take a moment to highlight the importance of what TGF does and to provide a spotlight for this foundations success on spear heading stigmas on mental health in Guyana.

Wishing you all a very safe, healthy and prosperous welcome to November 2022.

2022 step ups.
Love and growth always.

Have you asked yourself how YOU have been doing lately?

Have you been burning out? Do you know the difference between stress and being burnt out? Take a few minutes to reflect on how you really have felt lately, then take a second to practice your contentment and gratitude towards life right now in whatever capacity that may be.

I once again ask that all comments be made with respect, professionalism and with the intention of bringing awareness of mental health stigmas to each other. Please be kind in the comments.

Wishing you a very warm welcome into the beautiful month of June! Halfway through 2022.

If no one told you today, I am proud of you.

2022 step ups.
Love and growth always.

Male Mental Health! An area I personally think needs so much more focus. Here I presented a very brief overview of the challenges men face today regarding mental health.

Although this post doesn’t mention anything specific to our Guyanese culture, these facts can relate to any and all cultures. The next information post will be focused to our Guyanese/Indo-Caribbean community!

Hope you are all staying safe and healthy.
Stay educated.

Narcissism! A new perspective for me. Spent a little time doing some research.

Educate yourself forever and always.

What seems like the never ending cycle of intergaenerational trauma stops with our youth- today.

01/03/2021

In addition to all of my extracurriculars, I have decided to dedicate my time and energy into the education and communication of mental health in our Guyanese community.

In 2021, Guyana makes up 0.01% of the total world population, yet they are listed as number 3 for the highest su***de in the world with a total of 29.2 per 100,000 people. The pattern of abuse passed from generation to generation has had a long run throughout Guyana’s history. The decades of intergenerational abuse is embedded into Guyanese blood.

I have been blessed to have the opportunity to be educated on the issues and stigma behind mental health. Mental health and the ability to learn coping strategies for unresolved trauma in the Western world has been largely influenced by the younger generation.

Today the youth of the future has the platform and the strength to vocalize the everyday pain and suffering that every human being goes through.

It is my goal to take the platform I have developed over years of my community service in the Guyanese society to educate both youth and aged on the simple fact that there is a way to experience trauma and stay meintally and emotionally healthy at the same time.
