Why do we keep forcing people to stay together?
I often wonder about the significance behind this idea that people must remain in relationships simply because they have been together for a long time, have children together, or because one person has something the other may benefit from.
I see this mentality quite often here, and perhaps it exists in other cultures as well.
We tell a woman to stay with a man because he has money, property, or some level of wealth.
We tell a man to stay with a woman because she has borne his children.
We tell people to βwork it outβ even when the relationship has become toxic, loveless, abusive, or completely empty.
But who is actually benefiting from that?
Certainly not the children.
Children do not benefit from watching their mother being abused, disrespected, emotionally broken, or living in a home where love has disappeared.
They donβt benefit from watching two people remain together simply because society says they should.
And neither party truly benefits from being trapped in a relationship where there is no longer love, peace, respect, or a shared vision for the future.
What sense does it make to say, βAt least he stayed with me,β if the person staying does not love you, does not respect you, and does not see a future with you?
We have to stop confusing possession with love.
You cannot force someone to remain where their spirit no longer wants to be.
And sometimes, by fighting so hard to hold on to someone who wants to leave, you may actually be blocking what the Most High has waiting for you.
Let people go.
Let the people who want to leave, leave.
Heal.
Grow.
Rebuild yourself.
Move forward.
From this physical life, you will make that journey alone.
Understand that.
Learn to hold on to yourself.
Because there is a whole life waiting for you beyond the person you thought you could never live without.
Rising!
