Executives manage every risk except the one that ends careers. I close that gap ↓

The thing about consistency is that it can’t be witnessed.

The only thing that is seen is the end result of that consistency

High blood pressure doesn’t hurt. That’s the whole problem with it. That’s why it got the: therm silent killer.

There’s another one like that called Lp(a).

It’s a regular blood test.

It’s genetic, it doesn’t move much over a lifetime, so you can do it once and you’re done.

If yours is high, everything else about your heart risk gets taken more seriously.

It also runs in families, so your result tells your siblings and your kids something about theirs.

Next time you’re in front of your doctor, ask whether you should have it done.

I think we must become experts at life, this includes its realms and tributaries.

1. Health

2. Relationships

3. Wealth

We must not just be aiming to survive.
We must aim to thrive.

The easiest way to change your trajectory in any and all of the above domains is changing your environment.

This is because the single greatest driver of behavior change is environment both in the positive and the negative.

This is not just external but internal also.

What you think about on a daily basis, what you consume or become engrossed in, shapes your mind, your beliefs, your values, your outlook of life, the world and ultimately your place in it.

So we must set attainable goals and shape our life around them and hopefully have a support system to help get you there or become the person that would fit that desired support structure.

Then when focusing all effort, daily, toward the achievement of realistic goals focused in the 3 domains with an emphasis on service and empathy, the idea of fulfillment can be realized.

Gratitude isn’t a mood. It’s a habit you do on the days you don’t feel it.

Pro tip: every morning or before bed, take 3-5mins, find three things that you are grateful for in each of these 3 domains:

1. Personal life- something about yourself, your body, your health, the way you solve problems, a particular skill you may have, the way you view the world etc

2. Career: something about your work life that you are grateful for it could be the last week or even the last year

3. Relationships-someone in your life you are grateful for, for what they bring, how they make you feel, their presence, their influence, how they may have changed you or helped you etc.

How you benefit:

Higher self-reported wellbeing, positive mood, life satisfaction

Better relationship satisfaction, especially when gratitude is expressed to someone rather than kept in a journal

More prosocial behaviour

Less rumination

Reduction in stress, depression and anxiety symptoms

Many of us chase happiness which is another story but understand this:

We are ultimately responsible for our immediate world around us and how we feel.

Take control of it.

Longevity comes from consistency, applied over years.

Not from a secret or a hack.

There are no quick fixes.

Most people don’t fail at health because they lack information. They fail because nothing remains once motivation runs out.

Small things don’t show up right away.

A missed workout.

A skipped meal plan.

A short night of sleep.

Unmanaged stress.

They creep silently until they hit you hard, as burnout, illness or costly decision.

Willpower isn’t what makes consistency work. A well-built system does.

That’s the difference between hoping for longevity and building it.

Discipline works.
Until it doesn’t.

And it always eventually doesn’t.

The people I see burning out aren’t lazy.
They’re probably the most disciplined people in the room.

That’s the problem.
They built everything on something that runs out.

A system doesn’t run out.
It just runs.

I had a patient lose their foot to diabetes.

She was 35.

Most people think the goal is a long life. More years.

But shes’s got years left. What she lost is the part where the body works.

That’s the difference nobody considers.

Write this down:
Lifespan is how long you live.
Healthspan is how long you live well.

An event like that cuts the second one short while the first keeps going.

And these diseases are showing up earlier every year. Thirties now, not sixties.

It doesn’t stop at the person. A female who can’t walk properly at 35 is out of work, in the system, dependent. The web is made and prosthetics are not easy to come by.

Multiply that across a population and it’s not a health problem anymore. It’s an economic one. A country-level one.

The body works the same way it has. What changed is everything around it.

The signs were there but who’s watching?
Some seek and find. Most see it after.
