【🌍 Hong Kong International Head and Neck Conference 2026】

The Hong Kong International Head and Neck Conference 2026 was successfully held on 12–13 June 2026, bringing together a vibrant international community of surgeons, oncologists, and allied health professionals united in advancing head and neck care. 🤝✨

This year’s Conference spotlighted innovation in practice and collaboration in action. A key highlight was the William I. Wei Lecture, delivered by Professor Floyd Christopher Holsinger (Stanford University School of Medicine), who shared inspiring insights on “Surgical Innovation and Evidence: Transforming Head & Neck Surgical Care with Robotics and Clinical Trials.” 🤖📊 His lecture underscored the growing impact of technology and evidence-based approaches in shaping the future of our field.

Building on this theme, the scientific programme featured interactive panel sessions and round-table case discussions, fostering dynamic exchange on current challenges and emerging solutions across key areas, including Oropharynx, Nasopharynx, Thyroid, and Innovations. 💡🗣️

Ahead of the main conference, participants took part in an immersive “Live Surgery & Movies Day” 🎬🔬, offering a front-row view of contemporary robotic techniques. Professor Holsinger’s live robotic oropharyngeal surgery, together with expert-led demonstrations, provided invaluable insights, highlighting not only technical excellence but also critical decision-making, as well as practical pearls and pitfalls from experienced surgeons.

More than a scientific meeting, this year’s Conference served as a platform for meaningful connections, knowledge exchange, and inspiration for future innovation. 🚀 We look forward to continuing this shared journey in advancing patient care and surgical excellence.

【🤖 Exploring the future of surgery through learning and innovation】

HKU Surgery recently had the opportunity to explore a brand new robotic-assisted surgery system, featuring modular arm carts and an open-console design. Participants of the workshop gained new perspectives on how RAS is transforming surgical practice and training.

The session included hands-on experience with live porcine model procedures, allowing participants to engage with the platform in a realistic surgical environment and gain meaningful, practice-based insights into its capabilities.
Importantly, this opportunity extended beyond demonstration. We organised a tailored hands-on session for our surgical assistant interns during their rotation, where they stepped into the role of robotic surgeons. This immersive experience provided early exposure to advanced surgical techniques and represents a valuable milestone in preparing for the evolving landscape of surgical practice. 🎓🖥️

At HKU Surgery, we are committed to fostering a culture of innovation in surgical education—embracing emerging technologies while continuing to invest in the growth and development of future surgical leaders. 🌟👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
