How do you measure success on a weight management journey?
For many people, success is defined by one thing: the number on the scale.
But what if real success is about so much more?
In my clinical practice, I often ask clients to weigh themselves and measure their waist circumference once a week—not as a form of judgment, but as a way of tracking progress and staying accountable. Weight can be a useful data point, but it is only one piece of the puzzle (technically, it’s just your gravitational pull with the Earth!).
The most meaningful changes often happen long before the scale reflects them.
Success might look like:
✨ Feeling calmer and more confident around food
✨ Letting go of all-or-nothing thinking
✨ Eating more consistently, even on busy days
✨ Enjoying food without guilt or anxiety
✨ Sleeping better, feeling stronger, and moving with more ease
✨ Speaking to yourself with greater kindness
✨ Seeing improvements in health markers such as HbA1c, cholesterol levels, or nutrient deficiencies
These wins may not show up on the scale straight away, but they are often the strongest signs that lasting change is happening.
Take a moment to ask yourself: What does success look like for you?
Because progress is about more than a number. It’s about how you feel, how you live, and the habits you’re building for the long term.💛
