The Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association was officially founded in 1963 and was incorporated in 1998.

Provisional membership of World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) was gained in 1976 and full membership was subsequently earned in 1978. In 1994, the Association joined the Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong as an Associate Member.

香港物理治療學會於1963年正式成立，並於1998年註冊為有限公司。
本會於1976年加入世界物理治療學會聯盟，於1978年成為其正式會員。
於1994年本會亦加入了香港醫學組織聯會成為其聯繫會員。

【2026 香港物理治療學會臨床觀摩計劃(4)】🤩✨

2026年度「臨床觀摩計劃」(Job Shadowing Program) 已於8月圓滿結束！❤️‍🔥

由5月至8月，約300位物理治療學生及應屆畢業生有幸跟隨超過50位資深物理治療師 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️，在不同臨床環境進行觀摩，涵蓋肌骨骼（MSK）、神經科、運動物理治療、兒科及精神健康等範疇，亦接觸普拉提（Pilates）、針灸等林總治療手法 ✨。

相信同學們都獲益良多，不但有機會將課堂知識與真實臨床情境連繫起來，亦更深入了解物理治療師的臨床推理、治療思維及專業角色與責任 💡💪。

導師們亦讚賞同學們抱持求知慾、主動及認真的學習態度 👍🏻。衷心感謝所有導師的無私分享及悉心指導 🫶🏻，以及統籌委員會和幕後團隊的努力，讓今年的計劃順利完成。透過業界與新一代物理治療師的交流與傳承，我們期望繼續為培育香港物理治療專業新動力出一分力 🌟。

【2026 HKPA Job Shadowing Program (4)】🤩✨

The 2026 HKPA Job Shadowing Program successfully concluded in August! ❤️‍🔥

From May to August, around 300 physiotherapy students and recent graduates had the opportunity to shadow more than 50 experienced physiotherapists 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ across various clinical settings, including musculoskeletal (MSK), neurological, sports, paediatric and mental health physiotherapy, while gaining exposure to approaches such as Pilates and acupuncture ✨.

The programme offered participants a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world clinical practice and gain deeper insights into clinical reasoning, treatment approaches, and the professional roles and responsibilities of physiotherapists 💡💪.

Our mentors were also impressed by the students’ curiosity, initiative and commitment 👍🏻. A heartfelt thank you to all participating mentors for sharing their experience and guidance 🫶🏻, as well as to the Organising Committee and everyone behind the scenes for making this year’s programme possible.

Through continued exchange between experienced clinicians and the next generation, we hope to play our part in nurturing future talent and supporting the physiotherapy profession in Hong Kong 🌟.

【香港醫療衛生界慶回歸、賀國慶 2026 慶祝酒會 🥂🇨🇳🇭🇰】

香港物理治療學會（HKPA）代表於9月15日出席「香港醫療衛生界慶回歸、賀國慶 2026 慶祝酒會」，與本港醫療衛生界各專業團體及業界代表聚首一堂，共同慶祝中華人民共和國成立77周年，分享國慶的喜悅！

七十七年來，國家在社會、經濟、科技及醫療衞生等領域持續發展。香港醫療服務亦不斷加強基層醫療、疾病預防、慢性病早期識別及社區為本的健康服務，以應對人口老化及慢性疾病帶來的挑戰，與「健康中國」所倡導的預防為主、重視基層及早診斷、早治療、早康復的方向互相呼應。

是次酒會匯聚香港醫療衛生界不同專業人士，在慶祝國慶的同時，亦進一步促進交流、凝聚業界力量。

HKPA 將繼續與各醫療專業及業界伙伴攜手合作，發揮物理治療在疾病預防、健康推廣及建立健康生活模式方面的專業所長，為香港醫療服務及市民健康作出貢獻。

衷心感謝大會的邀請，並再次祝賀中華人民共和國成立77周年！祝願國家繁榮昌盛、人民安康。

Representatives of the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association (HKPA) attended the “香港醫療衛生界慶回歸、賀國慶 2026 慶祝酒會” on 15 September, joining healthcare professional bodies and industry representatives to celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Over the past 77 years, the nation has continued to advance across social, economic, technological and healthcare development. In Hong Kong, greater emphasis is also being placed on primary healthcare, disease prevention, early identification of chronic diseases and community-based care, in line with the broader direction of Healthy China.

The reception brought together healthcare professionals from across the sector, offering a valuable opportunity to strengthen connections and professional collaboration.

HKPA will continue to work closely with healthcare and industry partners, contributing physiotherapy expertise in disease prevention, health promotion and healthier lifestyles, while supporting the continued development of healthcare services and community health in Hong Kong.

【Congratulations to Prof. Marco PANG | World Physiotherapy 75 Noteworthy Physiotherapists】

The Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association (HKPA) extends its warmest congratulations to Prof. Marco PANG, who has been selected as one of World Physiotherapy’s 75 noteworthy physiotherapists!

Nominated by the HKPA, Prof. PANG receives this prestigious recognition as part of World Physiotherapy’s 75th anniversary celebrations. This initiative aims to recognise physiotherapists who have made an exceptional contribution to the profession at national, regional, or international level at any point since World Physiotherapy was founded in 1951.

Beyond his globally recognized research, Prof. PANG has consistently make significant contributions to the global physiotherapy community. He currently serves as the Chair of World Physiotherapy’s Asia Western Pacific (AWP) region, actively driving cross-regional collaboration and advancing professional development.

📢【HKPA x 明報｜公眾教育】運動場上3大創傷 POLICE黃金急救

🏃‍♂️ 不論是職業球員還是業餘愛好者，在追求更強表現時，運動創傷往往如影隨形！⚠️

當不幸受傷，黃金時間內的處理是重返運動場的關鍵。本會會員、曾擔任多支本地專業運動隊伍駐場物理治療師梁澤祺近日於報章撰文，從專業運動物理治療視角拆解最新處理迷思。

📊 認識疾病與成因：
常見創傷分為韌帶拉扯的「扭傷」（如拗柴）、肌肉撕裂的「拉傷」及外力撞擊的「撞傷」。傳統盲目長時間休息，反而容易導致肌肉萎縮。

💡 物理治療師的專業建議：
✅ 告別 RICE 升級 POLICE：急性期處理已由純粹休息演進為 POLICE 法則。做好保護（P）後，應盡早在不痛範圍內給予患處「適度負荷（OL）」，刺激細胞修復並加快癒合。
✅ 精準控制腫痛：受傷後應盡快冰敷（I）控制腫痛，並利用彈性繃帶加壓（C）及將患處抬高（E）至高於心臟水平以利消腫。
✅ 循序漸進長遠復康：隨後應由物理治療師安排消炎儀器、手法放鬆，並進行肌肉力量、平衡與本體感覺訓練，修正姿勢並防止舊患復發。

正確的急性處理是復原的基石。在專業物理治療輔助下，助你安全重返賽場！🤝🏻

【Symposium on Chinese-Western Medicine Integration & Internationalization】

Our Membership Subcommittee Member, Ms. Kelly CHAN, was delighted to represent the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association (HKPA) at the ”Symposium on Chinese-Western Medicine Integration & Internationalization“ held on 5 September 2026 at the 2/F Auditorium of The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong.

The symposium commenced with inspiring opening remarks delivered by The Hon LEUNG Chun-ying, GBM, GBS, JP, followed by two structured panel discussions. Serving as a premier platform for healthcare leaders and multidisciplinary professionals, the event fostered meaningful dialogue on bridging Chinese and Western medical models, enhancing clinical synergy, and advancing global healthcare development.

HKPA remains steadfast in its commitment to collaborating with healthcare partners to elevate clinical standards and optimize patient care. We extend our sincere appreciation to the organizers for hosting this impactful event and look forward to continued interprofessional exchanges in the future!

Our HKPA Vice President, Prof. Raymond TSANG, was delighted to join the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy Inauguration Ceremony cm Launch of the BSPT Volunteer Work Team on 4 September 2026, hosted by Saint Francis University (SFU).

As the Vice President of HKPA, Prof. TSANG was invited to introduce the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association (HKPA) to the fresh faces of the profession and warmly invite the first-year SFU students to join the HKPA as student members.

We extend our warm welcome to all incoming physiotherapy students as you begin your academic and professional endeavors. 🎉 【2026年9月8日世界物理治療日 | World PT Day 2026】 🎉
今年國際兒童物理治療組織（IOPTP）特別製作了 4 大核心主題的專業資訊與衛教海報，聚焦於「心血管健康、兒童中風與積極運動」！

帶大家一次了解兒童物理治療的 4 大重點領域：
1️⃣ 兒童與青少年心血管健康及風險 🫀
從先天性心臟病到缺乏運動等風險，物理治療師能協助評估孩童的心肺功能、為他們度身訂造安全合適的運動處方，並引導經歷大病或手術後的兒童一步步安全地恢復活動。

2️⃣ 兒童中風與腦血管狀況 🧠
雖然罕見，但中風確實有可能發生在兒童與青少年身上。及早識別警號（緊記 BE-FAST 症狀！），配合主動、具目標導向及上肢物理治療訓練，能大大促進腦部神經重塑，提升兒童的獨立生活能力。

3️⃣ 物理治療師在促進活躍遊戲中的角色 🏃‍♀️
物理治療師以「家庭為本」為原則，結合 6F 理念：Function（功能）、Family（家庭）、Fitness（體適能）、Fun（趣味）、Friends（社交）和 Future（未來），將訓練完美融入兒童的日常遊戲與家庭生活之中。

4️⃣ 全方位體能活動指引 🚴‍♂️
從小建立的運動習慣將受用一生！無論是健康的兒童，還是有特殊需要的孩童，物理治療師都能透過輔助器具（如輪椅、助行器）及經過調整的運動策略，協助他們安全地達到世界衛生組織（WHO）的每日運動量目標。

⚠️ 家長請留意 – 需即時求醫的危險信號：
* 突發性的單側身體無力、口面歪斜、說話含糊不清或突然失去平衡（中風警訊）
* 玩耍或做運動時出現胸痛、異常氣喘或過度疲憊
* 活動時嘴唇或指甲發紫（青紫色）
❤️ 及早關注、積極遊戲與適時照護，為孩子建立更強健的心臟與光明的未來！
