A chinese cat's story.
Recently We have come into contact with the veterinary industry because of our LoLaHop animal brand of medical devices and biomaterials. A few days ago, a veterinarian gave us an X-ray(the First one) and asked how to treat the cat's leg. This reality makes it difficult for us, because it is also a very complicated case in people.
Our diagnosis is that this cat is currently suffering from chronic osteomyelitis of the tibia and fibula, with bone nonunion and unhealed skin wounds.
Our treatment advice is to give the cat's leg external fixator and bone reduction, and then thoroughly remove chronic osteomyelitis and debridement. The wound is open to change dressing, negative pressure drainage, wait until osteomyelitis is completely controlled. Then bone graft substitutes are implanted , meanwhile, finding a way to close the wound with good soft tissue coverage and strive for bone healing. The external fixator is keeping.
It is really too difficult!
What does this case tell us?
The early stage of this case was a comminuted open fracture of tibia and fibula. The doctor gave debridement and external fixator fixation treatment, this treatment is correct. Later the bone nail of the external fixator led to nail hole infection, and the doctor removed the external fixator and replaced it with an internal fixation plate, resulting in osteomyelitis. This treatment was wrong. Later, the doctor removed the steel plate and replaced it with an intramedullary needle. This treatment is also wrong. As a result, chronic osteomyelitis and long-term osteomyelitis can not be controlled, and bone nonunion can never be healed. Poor cat and cat owner!!!
