What if your business could help make a surgery possible? Global Surgical Expedition is looking for sponsors for our 2026 Annual Gala on November 20, and your support can reach far beyond one evening.💙

Funds raised through the gala help GSE provide surgical care and medical education in communities where access to these services can be limited.🌍 Sponsorship support helps bring skilled medical teams to patients who need care while also supporting education and sustainable programs designed to strengthen healthcare long after our teams return home.🏥

Whether you're a small business, a healthcare organization, or a larger company, there’s an opportunity to get involved and make a difference. Your business gets meaningful recognition. More importantly, your support helps give patients access to care they may otherwise go without.✨ Interested in becoming a 2026 Gala sponsor? https://eventsupporter.onecause.com/event/organizations/9436bcf7-e7c9-414d-91b2-e25080aa02fe/events/vevt:634b517c-0455-4fb3-aa06-b45fea5d5718/sponsorship-packages

Want to do more than learn about global surgery? Learn how to be part of it. The Global Surgery Scholars Program is Global Surgical Expedition’s flagship educational program, designed for students and healthcare professionals who want to expand access to surgical care in underserved communities. 📚️

Through education, mentorship, and hands-on experience, scholars gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to approach global surgery responsibly and sustainably. 👩‍⚕️

The program is open to US surgical residents and fellows, nurses and allied health professionals, and undergraduate and medical students who are passionate about improving care for underserved populations. 🌍

Because the future of global surgery depends on more than sending teams around the world. It depends on preparing people who are ready to build better, more sustainable care wherever it’s needed. 🏥

Dr. David Rapp didn't set out to change the world. He set out to find where he could make the biggest difference.✨ His first medical mission to Honduras was in 2000. What he saw there stayed with him, and he kept coming back. 🇭🇳

As a urologist and pelvic floor reconstruction specialist, Dr. Rapp saw firsthand how conditions like pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence can affect far more than a woman’s physical health. They can impact her ability to work, care for her family, and live her life without limitations.💔

That belief in the importance of access to specialized care ultimately led him to found Global Surgical Expedition and build a lasting partnership with One World Surgery. But Dr. Rapp’s vision has always been bigger than individual surgical missions. He wants to help build the training, resources, and local expertise needed to make specialized care sustainable in Honduras—so that one day, patients won't have to wait for an international surgical team to receive the care they need.🏥 Because the goal isn't to be needed forever. The goal is to help build something that lasts. 🤩

Your PACU skills can travel far beyond your hospital.🏥

Global Surgical Expedition is recruiting experienced Phase I and Phase II PACU nurses for our January surgical mission to Honduras, in partnership with One World Surgery. This multidisciplinary team will provide urology, urogynecology, and general surgery services. 💙

As a PACU nurse, you’ll be an essential part of the patient journey. Your expertise helps patients safely recover after surgery while providing comfort and reassurance during a vulnerable moment. But the experience goes beyond the operating room. You’ll work alongside dedicated healthcare professionals, build connections with an incredible team, and see firsthand what your skills can make possible when access to surgical care is limited.🌍 If you’re an experienced PACU nurse looking for a different kind of opportunity this January, consider putting your skills to work in Honduras.🇭🇳

Our Botswana trip is in full swing! 🇧🇼

Dr. Ian Fields, Dr. Samantha DeAndrade, and Dr. Ellie Schmidt are continuing to perform surgeries while working alongside and teaching our local collaborators at Princess Marina Hospital. 🏥

It’s more than providing care—it’s sharing knowledge, building skills, and strengthening the capacity for quality care to continue long after our team heads home.

We’re incredibly grateful for this dedicated team and for our partners at Princess Marina Hospital. So much important work is happening in Botswana right now! 💙

While our team is on the ground in Botswana providing surgical care and training alongside local surgeons, our work with our partners in Belize continues, too.🇧🇿

Through our partnership with Ohana One, Dr. Moustafa joined our collaborators at Northern Regional Hospital in Orange Walk, Belize, virtually as Drs. Marin and Reyes performed a laparoscopic gallbladder removal. From the U.S., he observed the procedure in real time, offering coaching and guidance to help refine their technique.

This kind of ongoing mentorship is what sustainable global surgery is all about. As local surgeons continue building their laparoscopic skills, more patients can benefit from minimally invasive procedures that mean less pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recoveries.💙

We're incredibly proud of our partners in Belize and excited to see their continued growth. Moments like these remind us that global collaboration doesn't end when a trip is over—it continues every day.🌍

After a long journey and plenty of logistics, our team has officially arrived in Gaborone, Botswana!🇧🇼

The work is already underway at Princess Marina Hospital, where our surgeons are caring for patients while training local surgeons alongside them. This collaboration helps expand access to specialized urogynecologic care long after our team returns home.

This expedition is led by Dr. Ian Fields, who is joined by his fellow, Dr. Ellie Schmidt, and first-time GSE volunteer Dr. Samantha DeAndrade. We're excited to have this incredible team representing Global Surgical Expedition and look forward to sharing updates throughout the week.🤩

Stay tuned as we follow their journey! 💙🌍
