Happy Interreg Cooperation Day! 🎉

Today, we celebrate 15 years of Interreg Cooperation – a milestone marking Europe’s dedicated efforts to boost cross-border collaboration and unity.

👉 Under the inspiring banner "Stronger Together – 15 years of shared effort," we highlight how EU-funded cross-border and transnational projects are making a real difference in everyday regional life, enhancing public services, and promoting sustainability across borders.

🌊 Let's take a moment to remember how we celebrated this special day last week in Cavtat! Together with students from local elementary schools and our community, we showcased six important projects focused on preserving the sea, protecting drinking water, and safeguarding the beautiful Adriatic coast. Because climate change knows no borders, and together, we face it stronger. 🌍💙

Stronger together in protecting the sea, drinking water and the coast 🌊💧

Around one hundred students from the “Cavtat” and “Gruda” primary schools, along with local residents, gathered on the Cavtat waterfront in Croatia, as part of the Interreg Cooperation Day celebration.

👉 Through an interactive presentation of six Interreg projects, participants had the opportunity to learn how European funding and cross-border cooperation contribute to the preservation of natural resources and the quality of life in local communities.

✅ Particular emphasis was placed on the protection of the sea, drinking water and the coastline, responsible environmental management, raising awareness of the sustainable use of natural resources, and addressing the challenges that climate change poses to local communities.

🌊 Interreg Cooperation Day in Cavtat – Stronger Together! 🇪🇺

Cavtat hosted Interreg Cooperation Day, organised by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.

Around 100 students and citizens had the opportunity to discover how EU-funded projects are helping to protect the sea, drinking water and coastline and address the challenges of climate change.

🔬 Scientists presented six projects implemented through the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro Programme: Blueconnect, Climbeach, Marrobo, Mowaclim, Smartwater and Waterlink.

From drones collecting data to underwater robots detecting marine pollution, students got a firsthand look at how science, EU funding and cross-border cooperation can make a difference.

🎨 The event ended with a creative workshop where the youngest participants showed, through drawings, what they had learned about protecting our environment.

💶 The Interreg VI-A IPA Programme has €118 million available for 2021–2027, with 4 strategic and 58 regular projects already contracted.

📢 Are you 18–30 and connected to a border region?

The European Commission is looking for 10 Cross-Border Ambassadors for a mandate running from October 2026 to March 2027.

✨ What’s involved?
• Around 2 days per month
• Monthly online meetings with DG REGIO
• Contributions to the Border Focal Point Network’s communication
• Your own personal project on cross-border cooperation

✅ Open to young people living in an EU or EFTA country with a strong connection to a border region
✅ Apply with a motivation letter (max. 500 words) and a video (max. 2 minutes)
✅ Receive a Certificate of Completion signed by DG REGIO

👉 Apply by 31 August 2026 and become a voice for cross-border cooperation!

The European Commission is looking for 10 Cross-Border Ambassadors aged 18 to 30. Applications close on 31 August. If you work with young people in your border region, this is worth passing on.

The mandate runs from October 2026 to March 2027 and takes about two days a month: monthly online meetings with DG REGIO, contributions to the Border Focal Point Network's communication, and one personal project chosen by each Ambassador, from a short video to a policy brief.

✅ Open to 18-30 year olds living in an EU or EFTA country with a strong connection to a border region
✅ Application: a motivation letter of 500 words maximum and a video of 2 minutes maximum
✅ Certificate of Completion signed by DG REGIO at the end of the mandate

🌿 A greener, smarter and more attractive Tuzla!

What happens when tourism infrastructure meets smart and ecological solutions? You get new ways to enjoy nature, explore local destinations and experience Tuzla from a different perspective. 🌳🚶‍♀️

Through the Pannonia-Adria Connection II - PA.CON II project, the Ilinčica recreational area in Tuzla is being enhanced with improved tourism infrastructure and thematic solutions designed to make the destination more attractive, accessible and enjoyable for visitors.

From outdoor recreation and nature-based activities to new visitor experiences, the project is helping transform Ilinčica into an even more appealing destination for both local communities and tourists. 🌍✨

Join the 6th Cross Border Coworking Conference, taking place in Zadar, Croatia, from 12–15 October 2026, and connect with entrepreneurs, digital nomads, coworking professionals, startups, and innovation stakeholders from across the region.

Organised within our CODES project, the conference builds on the legacy of the 2CODE project from the Interreg IPA CBC Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2014–2020 Programme, continuing to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship, and cross-border cooperation.

The programme includes inspiring keynote speeches, panel discussions, practical workshops, and networking opportunities, covering topics such as AI in business, remote work, coworking communities, destination branding for digital nomads, and coliving.
