Did your muscle “jump” during dry needling? 👀
That quick muscle twitch is called a Local Twitch Response (LTR), a normal reaction that can happen when the needle reaches an active trigger point.
An LTR may indicate the muscle is responding to treatment and, according to research, may help reduce muscle tension, improve blood flow, and decrease pain sensitivity.
Keep in mind, a visible twitch isn’t required for dry needling to be effective. Every treatment is different, and your physiotherapist will always tailor it to your condition.
