Kembali Recovery Center

Kembali Recovery Center Bali's Premier Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation Center, based in the heart of Ubud Bali.

There comes a moment in life when something inside us quietly says… things need to change.

For some people, that moment comes after years of struggling with addiction. For others, it appears as burnout, anxiety, depression, or simply the feeling that they’ve lost connection with themselves and the life they want to live.

At Kembali Recovery Center, here in the peaceful surroundings of Bali, we have created a space where people can slow down, reflect, and begin the process of healing.

Our approach is built around the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model, meaning we look at the whole person — not just the behavior. Recovery isn’t simply about stopping a substance or changing a habit. It’s about understanding the deeper patterns, emotions, and experiences that brought someone there in the first place.

Each person who comes to Kembali receives individualized care through our two-counselor model, allowing for deeper support, balanced perspectives, and meaningful personal growth.

But what truly makes this place special isn’t just the therapy.

It’s the community that forms here.

Shared meals, meaningful conversations, time in nature, movement, creativity, laughter, and the simple experience of being surrounded by people who genuinely care.

Recovery is not about becoming someone new.

It’s about rediscovering the person you were always meant to be.

If you or someone you love is struggling, know that change is possible — and support is available.

Sometimes the most powerful step forward is simply asking for help.

A shout out to another one of our amazing support staff Raka. From the moment a client arrives at Kembali, Raka is often right there to welcome them, help them settle in, explain how things work, and give a friendly tour of the center that immediately puts people at ease. His calm, supportive presence makes those first nervous moments feel lighter and more comfortable.
Raka is very helpful in the day-to-day running of the center and is always happy to help wherever he’s needed. He’s also one of our incredibly talented drivers, confidently navigating Bali traffic while safely taking clients to meetings and on adventures—whether that’s the beach, a volcano, the zoo, Waterbom Adventure Park, or beyond. And when it comes to ATV rides or rafting… let’s just say Raka’s fun, wild side really comes out!
Inside the center, Raka may be seen as an assistant in the Connections workshop or being very helpful in the office. From organizing paperwork and printing materials for counselors and clients to creating posters, he keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes. With a background as a lawyer, Raka brings a sharp, thoughtful mind to everything he does—and we feel incredibly fortunate to benefit from both his brains and his great sense of humor.
One of Raka’s most special qualities is how deeply he cares about people long after they leave Kembali. He’s amazing at staying in touch with former clients and has built many long-lasting friendships with people who passed through the center years ago. His commitment to recovery extends far beyond our walls—Raka is the Indonesian representative for Narcotics Anonymous and has represented the country at conferences in places like Oman and Malaysia.
And as if all of that wasn’t exciting enough, Raka is also getting married in just a couple of months, and there’s a lot of excitement around it! He’ll be celebrating with a spectacular Javanese wedding, complete with stunning outfits, meaningful ceremony and rituals, and a large gathering of family and friends. It’s set to be an incredible event and truly something special to witness.
We’re absolutely thrilled for Raka as he begins this next chapter of his life and can’t wait to see

Tria is one of those rare humans who somehow manages to wear two hats at once—and honestly, one of them (the Head Nurse hat) never really comes off. The other? That’s her super-support-staff, can-do-anything, everywhere-at-once hat. And she rocks them both effortlessly.
From the very first minute you meet Tria, you feel it—that warm, instant sense that you’re safe, cared for, and in very good hands. She’s vivacious, energetic, endlessly positive, and completely uplifting. Add in her big, infectious laugh and bubbly personality, and suddenly you don’t just feel looked after… you actually want to hang out with her. A lot.
When Tria is in nurse mode (which is often), she’s an absolute powerhouse. She’s incredibly knowledgeable about the body and seems to have a cure—or at least a very solid plan—for just about everything. Morning or night, you might find her checking blood pressure, treating ear infections, handling dental issues, calming skin rashes, managing fevers, setting up IV drips, giving B12 injections, or dispensing sleep aids, digestive support, or pain relief. And that list? It genuinely goes on and on.
What makes it even more impressive is how she does it all—professionally, efficiently, and with speed that borders on magical. Need medication? Consider it handled. Doctor, dental, or psychiatrist appointment? Already booked. Mobile care clinic needed ASAP? Tria’s on it. Someone's birthday? The balloons and flowers and cake are already ordered! She moves with such ease and positivity that even stressful situations feel smooth and seamless.
For many clients, Tria is also one of the first friendly faces they meet—guiding them through detox assessments, monitoring daily medication needs, and setting the tone for care with compassion and reassurance. She has a gift for lifting spirits, creating gratitude, and filling spaces with calm, supportive energy.
Beyond nursing, Tria is an incredible team player and an absolute pillar of support across the entire center. She pays attention to everyone’s needs, often acting as the bridge between kitchen staff, yard staff, and management. She’s constantly finding ways to beautify and improve the center, guided by genuine

Meet Ayu — the perfect mix of playful sparkle and loving accountability. 💛
If it’s Sunday and you see clients suddenly scrambling to finish homework or speed-tidying their rooms… yep, Ayu is on her way. 😄
Ayu is our go-to for homework checks, room inspections, and assigning weekly responsibilities around the center. She keeps things running smoothly and makes sure everyone is doing their part — all while staying grounded, fair, and (mostly) smiling. She has a way of holding the line that’s lighthearted but very real… and clients quickly learn that “almost done” doesn’t quite cut it with her. 😉
At the same time, Ayu is deeply compassionate, loving, and down-to-earth. She isn’t afraid to gently (or sometimes not-so-gently 😅) challenge clients on their blind spots — always with growth, honesty, and recovery in mind.
She also brings a whole lot of fun to Kembali. Ayu loves to dress up in colorful wigs, fully embraces her playful side, and is an amazing singer — a talent that regularly delights both staff and clients.
Behind the scenes, Ayu has worked at many rehabs, brings a wide range of qualifications and skills, and plays a huge role in organizing and managing our administration paperwork. She’s reliable, capable, and incredibly dedicated.
Simply put: Ayu is loved by staff and clients alike, and we feel unbelievably lucky to have her as part of the Kembali family. 💚
(And yes… if she’s checking your room today, you might want to straighten that bed. 😉)

Our logo carries more meaning than we ever could have planned—and that’s part of what makes it special.
It was created by a good friend Aryo Dewa Bharata who is incredibly talented and is just an amazing person!! When he designed it, it wasn’t just a graphic exercise—it came from lived experience, personal reflection, and an understanding of what recovery actually feels like from the inside.
Over time, people have seen many things in the logo. Some describe it as a flame—symbolic of the spark within us that may have dimmed or nearly gone out, but never fully disappeared. Recovery, for many, is about reigniting that inner flame: hope, purpose, truth, and self-respect coming back online.
Others see layers—like something unfolding or peeling back. This resonates deeply too. Recovery often isn’t about becoming someone new, but about removing what no longer serves us. Old coping mechanisms, false identities, protective masks—slowly stripped away so we can rediscover our true selves underneath.
Some notice a sense of grounding or centering in the shape. A return. A coming home. A reminder that everything we’re looking for already exists within us.
What’s especially meaningful is how clients connect with it personally. Every person who completes the program receives a keychain of the logo—a small, tangible reminder of the work they’ve done and the journey they’ve taken. And over the years, quite a few clients have chosen to take it one step further, getting the logo tattooed as a permanent symbol of transformation, resilience, and return.
Like recovery itself, the logo doesn’t have just one meaning. It invites reflection. It asks questions. And it continues to reveal something new, depending on where you are in your journey.
So… what does it make you think of?

If there were an award for Most Likely to Be Everywhere at Once, Wira would win it—every time.
We’ve known Wira for over 10 years, and for the past 2 years, we’ve been incredibly lucky to have him as part of the Kembali family. To say Wira is invaluable barely scratches the surface. He is one of those rare humans who quietly holds everything together while making it look effortless (and usually laughing while doing it).
At Kembali, Wira wears many hats (and wigs when doing karaoke) —and somehow they all fit perfectly. He helps with office and vehicle organization, supports our Connections workshops, and is often the first warm, friendly face clients see when they arrive. From check-in to settling in, Wira has a natural way of helping clients feel comfortable, welcomed, and at ease.
Afternoons and evenings often find him at the gazebo—hanging out with clients, playing pool, creating art (yes, he’s a seriously talented artist), and just being present. His ability to connect, listen, and genuinely care makes a huge difference in our clients’ experience.
Outside the center, Wira is nothing short of a Bali adventure legend. We are very lucky he can confidently drive the large van through Bali traffic (which should honestly be listed as a superpower). He takes clients to AA meetings, out for meals three times a week, shopping trips, haircuts, and weekend outings that include sound healing pyramids, beautiful spas, hot springs, volcanoes, river rafting, ATV rides, waterfall jumps, and snorkeling at the beach. Basically—if it’s fun, healing, or slightly adventurous, Wira’s probably driving.
Wira has an amazing sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and a gift for lifting spirits—especially on tough days. He always has an ear to listen, a calm presence to offer support, and a way of making people feel seen and cared for.
He leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets and holds a forever place in our clients’ hearts. We feel truly blessed to have Wira as part of the Kembali team—and honestly, we’re not sure what we’d do without him.

"The time has come to turn your heart into a temple of fire."

- Rumi.

One of our favorite excursions is to the Sangeh monkey forest inside the forest lies the temple, Pura Bukit Sari which was originally built around the 17th century. A large statue of Garuda, an old carving of uncertain date, symbolizes freedom from suffering and the attainment of amerta, the elixir of life.

Kembali Recovery Center is very lucky to be located across the street from one of Bali's most famous waterfalls. Participants are encouraged to walk down to the waterfall in the mornings for meditation or just some self reflection. What better way could we start our day?
