*Lavani* is a traditional folk dance from Maharashtra known for its powerful rhythm, expressive movements, and bold storytelling.
Lavani literally means "beauty" and it celebrates feminine grace, strength, and spirit of Maharashtra.

Performed mainly by women to the beat of the _dholki_ drum. Combines sensual dance, quick footwork, and theatrical facial expressions.
Songs are often based on love, politics, society, and mythology. The lyrics are sharp, witty, and sung in rapid tempo.
Dancers wear the traditional nine-yard _nauvari saree_, heavy jewelry, and ghungroos on their ankles.
Historically performed for entertainment of soldiers during the Maratha rule, it was used to boost morale. Today it’s a major cultural art form on stage.
