Did you know that Long term vacant and derelict residential properties are being targeted with a new tax aimed at encouraging owners to bring neglected homes back into use...
Across Ireland, We’ve all driven by properties sitting empty for years and thought: “Imagine what you could do with that place!”
Do you think there should there be more pressure on owners to renovate, sell or bring derelict properties back into use?
Or do you think a new tax is the wrong way to tackle the problem?
Heres what a 7% tax actually means in euro terms for derelict property owners...
A derelict property valued at €75,000 taxed at 7% would be €5,250 per year.
A derelict property valued at €100,000 taxed at 7% would be €7,000 per year.
A derelict property valued at €150,000 taxed at 7% would be €10,500 per year.
Suddenly 7% sounds like a pretty significant incentive to do something with a property that’s been left derelict. 👀
Will a tax at this level encourage owners to renovate or sell?
