Unfortunately due to factors beyond my control, it was with an extremely heavy heart that I have had to step down from my role as local Funeral Director. This was an extremely difficult decision for me and one that was not made lightly.

My time as a local Funeral Director can only be described as an honour and an extremely humbling experience in the most highest regard possible, it has been incredibly meaningful to me both professionally and personally.

I am deeply grateful and in total gratitude for the support of my fellow colleagues Peter Dunne and Liam Oโ€™Brien for their loyal support and professionalism who both were always a pleasure to work alongside. Also to everyone who I have been very fortunate to liaise and learn from i.e. nursing homes & their staff, hospitals & their mortuaries, embalmers, clergy, Sinead and Mary, all the singers & organists, local florist (Noelle), gravediggers and wider identities all of who assisted me to ensure I could carry out my families wishes for their loved oneโ€™s final journey and for this I will be eternally grateful to you all. Each and every one of you are such talented and dedicated people to the service.

But my most sincerest and heartfelt thanks from the bottom of my heart goes out to all the families who entrusted me to care for their loved one and who I have had the honour to whether it be at the kitchen table reminiscing or in the funeral home you welcomed me into your family circle at your most vulnerable and I will always cherish our memories and stories together.

I look forward to continue to meet you all out and about the community and keeping in touch with you all, You hold a special place in my heart.

My thanks to all
Dara Gillespie

Today, we would like to share that Pauline Finlay and John Finlay have assumed ownership of Finlay Funeral Care and the Ardee Funeral Home.

As we begin this new chapter, we would like to express our sincere thanks to our brother, Colman Finlay, for his many years of leadership and dedication to the family business and the community it serves.

We would especially like to recognise and thank Dara Gillespie for her exceptional contribution to Finlay Funeralcare over many years. Dara has been a trusted guide and source of support for so many local families, carrying out her role with professionalism, compassion, dignity and genuine care. Her commitment to the people of Ardee and the wider Mid-Louth community has helped shape the reputation and standards of the business we inherit today.

Following the recent change of ownership at the Finlays of Ardee coffin manufacturing business on the Kells Road, Dara is now focusing full-time on her role as General Manager there. While she will be greatly missed at Finlay Funeralcare, we are delighted to see her take on this important leadership role and we wish her every success and happiness in the years ahead.

We are deeply conscious of the legacy entrusted to us by our late father, Colman Finlay, by Jim Conlon, by Dara, and by all those who have helped build and sustain this business over many years. It is a responsibility we do not take lightly.

Our commitment remains unchanged: to provide professional, personal and compassionate care to every family who places their trust in us. We look forward to continuing to support local families alongside our trusted team, including Liam and Peter, as Finlay Funeralcare enters this new chapter while remaining true to the values and traditions that have guided the business for generations.

We would like to thank the people of Ardee and the wider Mid-Louth community for the support and confidence you have entrusted our family with over many years. We look forward to continuing that tradition of service for many years to come.

If you have any questions or would simply like to get in touch, we can be reached on 086 831 7111.
