Chickenpox is a common infectious disease that mostly affects children under 10. Although chickenpox is usually mild, it can be serious for some people.

The chickenpox vaccine is safe, effective, and free for children born on or after 1 October 2024. It is now part of the HSE childhood vaccine schedule. Talk to your GP or GP practice nurse to book an appointment.
