Heartfelt congratulations to Past Pupil Sophie Barrett from the Class of 2025 on being awarded the highest mark for Leaving Cert DCG in Ireland last summer. She is pictured here with her teacher Mr. Seán O' Callaghan who has now guided and mentored multiple students on receiving this coveted award.

Sophie worked diligently and perfected her work to the highest standards. She is currently studying Genetics in UCC and is no doubt applying the same tireless work ethic to her course. Well done Sophie. 🌟🥳🌟

It was a great honour for SMGS GAA to host the inaugural "O'Reilly's Festival of Football" in Whitechurch GAA complex last Friday. Over 300 players from 10 different schools put on an exhibition of football and raised money for two great charities, Marymount Hospice and Ronald McDonald House.

Go n-éirí an bóthar leat a Phríomhoide Sheehan. 🌟

Today was a very special day in SMGS Blarney as our students got an opportunity to pay their well wishes and appreciation to our Principal Mr. Pádraig Sheehan ahead of his retirement.

Starting as a First Year student in SMGS himself, Mr. Sheehan had been a linchpin of our school as a Teacher, Deputy Principal and Principal since 2009. His retirement in 2026 will make him the longest serving principal in our school.

His warm and supportive approach to the students was acknowledged by the Head Prefect Ellie Vaughan Reddan, who made such a moving speech on behalf of the student body.

A presentation was made by the to mark the special occasion.

40+ years of dedication, leadership, and care —Mr.
Sheehan's legacy will live on in every corner of this school he worked so hard to bring to Blarney.

As the final school term concludes, we wish Mr. Sheehan happiness, health and success in the years ahead.

Congrats to students and teachers on a keenly contested match today in the Inaugural SMGS Ryder Cup !
