IDP is now taking enquiries for the rollout of the new FaME (Falls Management Exercise) Programme this September as part of the HARC Healthy & Active Rural Communities programme.
This programme is free to attend.

FaME is a 24-week, evidence-based programme designed to help older adults improve strength, balance and confidence, while reducing the risk and fear of falling. Sessions take place once a week in small groups and are led by specially trained instructors.

The programme is suitable for people aged 55+ who want to stay active, independent and improve their overall mobility.

For locations and further details contact Christina Perry on Email: [email protected] or Phone: 086 809 7830
Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.

The FaME Programme is being delivered as part of the Healthy and Active Rural Communities (HARC) Project, supported by PEACEPLUS and managed by Special EU Programmes Body - SEUPB

Decathlon, the European sportswear behemoth, is not generally known for cutting-edge running footwear.
That might be about to change!
Decathlon's running shoe brand is called Kiprun. Never heard of it? Well, it has been around for ages, and I have been watching quietly from the sidelines as Decathlon has gathered an elite group of biomechanists, designers and developers for its research centre in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Lille, France.
I could feel that something was going to emerge from this.
Enter the Kiprun Kipnext 3D.. I am not sure the name is that original, but the shoe certainly is.
The process, from idea to finished product, took a reported six months in Decathlon’s Shenzhen, China factory. Barcelona-based company Something Added, which specialises in using Hewlett-Packard’s 3D printing technology, lent its extensive expertise to the project. The midsole is entirely 3D-printed, with a traditionally knitted upper on top.
The midsole is produced using HP‘s Multi Jet Fusion process with a proprietary thermoplastic elastomer material. Its variable-density lattice structure is intended to distribute cushioning according to a runner’s stride pattern, while keeping overall weight down. Kiprun claims an energy return of 75%, compared to the 50–65% range commonly cited for EVA foam midsoles, though independent verification of that figure has not been published, and frankly I do not take much notice of energy return data.
We are going to see a lot more of this, so kudos to Kiprun and Decathlon for being early adapters.
What the KIPNEXT 3D adds to this picture is a mid-market performance angle that has been relatively underserved. Most of the high-profile 3D printed footwear to date has clustered either at the premium end or in limited-edition drops aimed at collectors. A brand like Kiprun occupying this space points to additive manufacturing becoming relevant not just at the extremes of the market, but across it.
Specs are:
Weight: 9.5oz
Stack: 39mm
Heel Drop: 6mm
and it is available only in China at this stage for USD250, significantly less than similar product.

Ireland’s clocks will go forward by one hour on Sunday, 29 March, bringing brighter evenings with it.

After the change, sunset will be close to 8pm, a small but very noticeable lift after winter.

Evenings will continue to stretch through April, reaching around 8.30pm by mid-month.

By the end of April, we’ll be edging towards 9pm sunsets again.
A reminder that lighter days, and more time outdoors, aren’t far away now 💚
