💙 Today, we celebrate World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly.

Our grandparents and older people hold a special place in our families and communities. Their kindness, resilience and life experience continue to shape generations, and today is a reminder to let them know just how much they mean to us.

This year's theme, "I will never forget you" (Isaiah 49:15), reminds us that no older person should ever feel forgotten or alone.

Whether it's calling in for a chat, picking up the phone, or simply spending a bit of time together, even the smallest gesture can brighten someone's day.

To all grandparents and older people.. thank you for your love, your wisdom and everything you've given. Today, and every day, we celebrate you. 💙

🌡️ Hot weather can be especially challenging for older people. A few simple actions can make a big difference in helping them stay safe and comfortable during periods of high temperatures. 💙

If you're caring for or checking in on an older person, remember to:
💧 Encourage them to drink water regularly, even if they don't feel thirsty.
🏠 Help keep their home cool by closing curtains or blinds during the day and opening windows when it's cooler in the evening (if it's safe to do so).
🌳 Encourage them to stay out of direct sunlight, especially between 11am and 3pm.
🧴 If they do go outside, remind them to wear a hat, light, loose-fitting clothing, and apply sunscreen regularly.
📞 Take a few moments to check in with older relatives, neighbors, or friends to make sure they're coping well and have everything they need.

A simple phone call or visit can make all the difference. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for the older people in your community. 💙
