The Sacred Epagomenal Days ✨
Today we step beyond ordinary time...
We enter the Sacred Epagomenal Days—five holy days that exist outside the calendar, outside the rhythm of the ordinary world. They are not simply the end of one year or the beginning of another. They are a sacred breath between worlds, where the veil feels thinner, the Gods draw closer, and our souls are invited to remember.
I have always loved the ancient story of how these days came to be.
Our beloved Mother Nut was forbidden to bring Her children into the world on any day of the year. Seeing Her sorrow, wise Thoth played a game with Khonsu, winning a portion of His moonlight. From that sacred light, he created five new days—days that belonged to no year at all.
And upon these holy days, the Great Neters were born.
✨ 27 July – Osiris
✨ 28 July – Horus
✨ 29 July – Set
✨ 30 July – My beloved Mother, Aset
✨ 31 July – Nephthys
For me, these are not simply birthdays of ancient Gods.
They are living days of remembrance.
Days when I pause to honour those whose wisdom has echoed through thousands of years... the Ones who still whisper to those willing to listen.
As a Priestess of Aset, my heart always longs for Her sacred day.
She is the Mother who found hope when all seemed lost.
The healer who gathered what had been broken.
The magician whose power was born not from domination, but from love, wisdom, devotion, and unwavering faith.
Every step I take upon my path has been touched by Her wings.
Every healing I offer carries a prayer that She may work through my hands.
Every circle I hold is offered in Her honour.
These sacred days also bring the rising of Sopdet—Sirius, the radiant Soul Star of Aset.
When Her light first appeared before dawn, the Nile began its great flood, bringing life, abundance, and renewal to the land. For Ancient Kemet, this was the beginning of the New Year—a reminder that life always returns, even after the longest season of waiting.
I believe this is the true gift of these sacred days.
They remind us that we are never finished.
We are always becoming.
Always shedding an old skin.
Always being called home to ourselves.
So during these Epagomenal Days, I invite you to slow down.
Light a candle.
Offer a prayer.
Speak to the Gods.
Listen to your heart.
Stand beneath the night sky and greet the Star of Aset, remembering that Her light has guided souls for thousands of years—and still shines for us today.
May these sacred days renew your spirit.
May Sopdet awaken your inner light.
And may our beautiful Mother Aset wrap Her eternal wings around you, reminding you that you have always been loved, always been guided, and have never walked this path alone.
Dua Aset. Dua Sopdet. May the Ancient New Year awaken the Divine Light within us all. 🤍
