Obituary - 25th May 2026

The death has occurred of James Kennedy, Knockroe, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon - May 25th 2026, peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Drumderrig Nursing Home, Boyle surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his beloved parents, Mary and James, his brothers John, Miko, Joe, Pat, Aidan, and Brendan and his sister Mary.

Husband to Kathleen, loving father to Ken (London), Alan (Castlerea), David (Chester), Carola (Florida), Derek (Aughnacliffe). James will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, heartbroken children, his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kellie, Nia, Finn, Aidan, Halle, James, Jack, Georgia, Darragh, and Annie, daughter in law Kathryn, Alan’s partner Derval, Derek’s partner Shirley and Ken’s partner Michelle, his brother and sisters Eamon, Celia, Kathleen, Helen and Theresa, brother-in- laws, sister-in- law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Gaynor's Funeral Home, The Square, Castlerea (F45 HH24) on Wednesday evening from 5 pm to 7pm, followed by Prayers and reception into St. Patrick's Church, Castlerea. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 11am followed by burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Pat Kilkenny, Behy, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon - 25th May 2026, peacefully at the Oakwood Private Nursing Home. Predeceased by his parents Pat and Nora, brother Jim and his brother-in-law Joe. Pat will be sadly missed by his sisters Rita (Castlerea), Anne (Birmingham), and Margaret (Castlerea), brother Tim (Ballinameen), brother-in-law John, sister-in-law Sadie, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephew, cousins, wonderful neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Freda Waldron, née Gaffney, Knockroe, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon - 23rd May 2026, peacefully surrounded by her family at Roscommon University Hospital. Predeceased by her father John, sisters Bridget and Chris, brother Gary, niece Liesel and aunt Mae. Freda will be sadly missed by her heartbroken daughter Jessica and son Jonathan (USA), mothers Eileen (Ballinlough) and Betty (USA), adored grandchildren Davin, Darby, Anthony, Tegan, Ronnie, Tae and Fallon, sisters Hilda, Joann, Tess, Kathy, Diane and Claudette, brothers Sean, Padraic, and Martin, aunt Freda, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Michael (Mick) Moore, Ballinagan, Kilchreest, Loughrea, Co. Galway, and formerly of St. Patrick’s Street, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon and Douglas, Isle of Man - 22nd May 2026, peacefully and with great courage, surrounded by his family in the care of nurses in Portiuncla Hospital, Ballinasloe and previously St. Brendan’s Nursing Home, Loughrea. Predeceased by his father and mother, Martin and Molly Moore, his brothers and sister, Sonny Moore, Father John Joe Moore, Father Bertie Moore, Sister Mary Magdalene Moore. Mick will be sadly missed by his wife Mary Frances, his daughter Marian and his son Michael, his two grandsons, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Mick will lie in repose at Kilboys Funeral Home, Loughrea (H62 KF63) on Monday evening from 5pm - 7pm, followed by Prayers and reception into the Church of the Nativity, Kilchreest. Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon on Tuesday with burial afterwards in Kilcreest Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Rupert de Lacy Staunton, ‘The Dell’ Clonalis, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon - 3rd May 2026, peacefully at his home. He is predeceased by his parents Eva and Maurice, infant son John, brothers Charlie and Hugh and his sister-in-law Mary. Rupert will be sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret, heartbroken children, daughters Eva and Rosalind and sons Ian and Declan, his sisters Ena and Dorothy, adored grandchildren Matthew, Nathaniel, Samuel, Isabelle, Max, Ivy and Leo, Eva’s partner Niall and Declan’s wife Emma, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, relatives, cousins, neighbours and friends.

Rupert will be reposing at his home (eircode F45 TV04) on Thursday from 5pm - 8pm (house private at all other times please). Removal on Friday morning to St. Patrick’s Church, Castlerea, for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Patrick Joseph (Patsy) O’Driscoll, Fearna Manor Apartments, Castlerea and formerly of Emlagh, Castlerea and Midleton, Co. Cork - 21st April 2026, peacefully after a long illness at Roscommon University Hospital. Predeceased by his partner Mary Blair, parents Patrick and Elizabeth, sister Kathleen, and his brothers James, William and Michael. Patsy will be sadly missed by his brother John, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, relatives, and many friends.
