Our residents at Carrigoran House Nursing Home took part in Nursing Homes Week 17th - 23rd Aug 2026
The theme was Connected with Nature, Life in Full Bloom ❤️
Our week started by making Bird Feeders in our Art and Crafts group. Our residents enjoyed choosing their favourite colours, and painting their feeders. When they were dried, they added a perch and the bird feed. They are looking forward to seeing what birds the seeds attract in the coming weeks. And they have placed the feeders all around our inner garden for all the residents to enjoy🐦🐦
On Tuesday, our residents enjoyed going out for a community walk along the avenue. The residents loved being out in nature, hearing the birds chirping and seeing the cows in the fields. They also enjoyed waving to cars as they passed by, as they called to visit loved ones in Carrigoran
On Wednesday, we made good use of our lovely apples, by making delicious apple tarts and apple turnovers! Needless to say, there wasn’t any leftovers 😂😂
On Thursday, we went to have tea, coffee, soup and biscuits at the Grotto. This is a beautiful area among the trees where you feel you are somewhere else entirely. The sounds of nature, and seeing the cattle in the fields, brings back so many memories for many of our residents. We enjoyed having a sing along and tackling a few brainteasers while we were there
We like to encourage our residents to get outside as much as possible. Some residents enjoy going out by themselves and enjoy the peace and quiet, while others like the company of others 💖💖
