Inaugural Intern Research day 2020 STGH.

Learning and laughter from our superb intern group! :)

Six platform and 6 poster presentations were produced by the 2020 Intern group, who despite COVID and the effect it has had both on their examinations and graduation and indeed their individual lives, have produced a varied and interesting array of work, highly praised for it's high standard by the judges.

A wonderful end to a strange year!

What a great team we had. Hats off to each and every one of them.

Winners of the NCHD annual audit presentations.

Audits presented were
Investigation of hyponatremia in acute inpatients 1st prize
DVT thromboprophylaxis in acute medical inpatients 2nd prize
Appropriateness of oxygen prescribing 3rd prize

Surgery rates in patients with inflammatory bowel disease in the era of biologics
Self reported alcohol consumption in acute medical inpatients
Documentation of medication allergies
Management of anaemia in chronic kidney disease

Professor O'Regan presenting 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes to the lead presenters. Each audit or benchmarking study highlighted important areas where practice improvements will improve patient care. Congratulations to all who presented today and to those who continue to work hard to improve outcomes for the people we serve in South Tipperary.

Dr. Nisa Maharaj introducing the 3 winners of the end of year NCHD audits. Today was Dr. Maharaj's last day. We will miss her and her fellow Registrars and SpRs and all of the NCHDs who are rotating into their next posts on Monday. Wishing you all success in the next steps of your careers!
