The Mercy Injury Unit - Gurranabraher will be open to the public, as normal (8 am to 7 pm) on tomorrow Wednesday 14 October.

IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE 🗣

Cancellation of outpatient and routine procedures - Wednesday 14 October.

Due to planned national industrial action across the public sector, outpatient clinics and routine procedures scheduled for Wednesday 14 October have been cancelled at Mercy University Hospital Cork

✅ ️The Emergency Department (ED) will remain open. Emergency and critical healthcare services will continue but may be reduced.

❎️ Routine and non-urgent outpatient appointments, elective procedures and day services are affected. Patients do not need to contact the hospital. Any patient whose appointment is affected will be contacted directly and provided with further information.

NB: Do not delay seeking urgent care.

We regret the inconvenience to patients and their families and thank you for your understanding as we work to maintain safe patient care during this period of national industrial action.

Connection- Wellbeing - Positive Ageing.

Mercy University Hospital Cork marked Positive Ageing Week across the hospital and in the Mercy Regional Rehabilitation Unit (MRRU) with a series of engaging, fun and informative activities for everyone to enjoy and celebrate our older patients in our hospital and within our wider community.

The theme of the week focused on the 5M of Geriatrics:

📍Matters Most

Events included:

🍰 The Great Geriatric Bake Off between St Mary's Ward and St Camillus Ward.
🏅Rehab Olympics
🗣 Education sessions and Guest Speakers from Alzheimer's Society and ALONE
🔎 Positive Ageing Quizzes
🎶 A visit from the spectacular Parkinsons Choir
☕️Welcoming the Blarney Active Retirement Group to MRRU for coffee, connection and a chat.

The Brown Family from Ballincollig were joined by family and friends in Alicante in May for their annual Golf Day in memory of their beloved Ian, who sadly passed away from cancer in 2021.

Each year Ian’s sister Chloe, brother Niall, parents Carol and Roy, and a wide circle of friends come together to remember Ian and raise funds for the Mercy Cancer Appeal.

This year marked the 4th Ian Brown Golf Memorial, raising an incredible €1,150 for cancer services at the Mercy University Hospital Cork 👏

A heartfelt thank you to the Brown Family and to everyone who took part and supported the day. We are so grateful for your continued kindness, generosity and support.

This week Mercy University Hospital Cork is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the opening of St Francis Transitional Care Unit.🎉

When it opened in 2016, the idea of transitional care was relatively new in Ireland but over the last decade it has become integral to enhancing patient care and improving patient flow.

MUH is privileged to continue to provide this service for our patients and acknowledge and congratulate the multidisciplinary team (past and present) who ensure St Francis Unit is a model of Mercy patient centred care 💙
