Who we are?
We are Fabiola and Ghislain, founders of Sacred Body Studio. Experienced yoga, Pilates, fitness instructors and personal trainers, we have the same passion for body mobility and wellbeing. During our journey together, we learnt the human anatomy deeply. We have been working hard to gain our physicality (we are not those lucky ones that are naturally flexible), which made us look for
different ways to develop. The mindfulness part of yoga taught us how to deal with our anxiety, fears and become more resilient. That grew our passion for sharing our life-changing experience through yoga. We opened our Yoga Teacher school in 2017, and we have been certifying yoga teachers with very high standards. In March 2020, due to Covid-19, we had to close our studio and took the opportunity to launch our online classes and online teacher training program. Physical Side:
Our method focuses on regaining mobility through strength and flexibility. Understanding that everybody is different, sometimes flexibility and strength are relative and not comparable with others, also depends on our life habits, story, and culture. By balancing our strength and flexibility, we can:
> maintain our spine in the natural alignment
> release organ compression
> improve posture
> relieve back pain
> improve flexibility strength and balance
> reduce joint pain
> regulate the nervous system
> balance mind-body functionality
> improve breathing
> enhance general health
Often a simple movement can cause discomfort because of a lack of strength or/and flexibility. Pilates is excellent to strengthen the core muscle and develop alignment awareness. It depends more on your body and spine mobility. We can improve with proper guidelines, as sometimes we might do the poses/exercises with a wrong alignment or not applying biomechanics and can't develop strength or flexibility. Sometimes, the opposite, we can hurt. That's why we designed and classify our classes in different type, level and intensity. Here are our class types and levels. Mental Side:
Overthinking cause mind saturation, and most of the time, we don't know how to release it. Continuously practising breath control (pranayama) teaches us to keep our concentration in the present moment (with each breath). Through breath control, we can calm our mind and slow down overthinking. As the breath becomes slower and deeper, it causes the bloodstream and the heart to slow down, releasing pressure from our nervous system. In the beginning, we need someone to guides us to learn to relax and focus the mind. After continued practice, we can do it on our own at any time. Understanding the power of the mind will give us clarity and mental health. Other Benefits:
Apart from gaining flexibility, strength, and controlling overthinking, yoga significantly impacts the endocrine, cardiovascular, digestive, and nervous systems. Think of it as acupressure; yoga poses stimulate blood circulation and stimulates triggers points and organs. That's why yoga has detox effects as well. Which type of yoga is best:
There is only one yoga, people try to make their own brand or product by way of calling it differently but it is only based on the same poses. A good yoga class should have detox, strength and flexibility, restorative and balancing poses. There are different techniques and styles to teach those poses as Ashtanga (dynamic), Iyengar (using props), Hatha Yoga (static and releasing). But all is depending on the flexibility and strength of your own body.
