We made the news this week β and it's an important one for every dairy farmer in the country. π°
Agriland reported that up to 30% of the Irish dairy herd has been under heat stress this week, as temperatures pushed past 30Β°C in places. When the heat climbs above 20Β°C with humidity, cows feel it fast β feed intake drops, and milk yield and solids follow.
Our data picked up the spike straight away. With the technology now in over 40 countries, we regularly see these events in places like Australia and Argentina β but this week, it was happening right here at home.
A few tips while the warm spell lasts: feed concentrates and forage in the late afternoon or evening rather than the morning, and make sure there's plenty of fresh, clean water available at all times. π§
