With the warm weather continuing, it’s important to know that some common medicines can make you more sensitive to heat and sunlight.

Medications that may increase the risk of dehydration, overheating or sun sensitivity include:
💊 Certain blood pressure tablets
💊 Antidepressants
💊 ADHD medications
💊 Diuretics (“water tablets”)
💊 Some antibiotics such as doxycycline
💊 Weight loss injections/GLP-1 medications

Signs to watch for include:
⚠️ Dizziness
⚠️ Headaches
⚠️ Excessive sweating or feeling unusually hot
⚠️ Confusion or nausea
⚠️ Severe sunburn more easily than usual

Top tips during the warm spell:
✅ Drink plenty of water
✅ Stay in the shade during peak heat
✅ Wear light clothing
✅ Use SPF 30+ sunscreen
✅ Keep medicines stored cool and out of direct sunlight
✅ Never stop prescribed medication without speaking to your pharmacist or GP first
