Here at The Coombe, we offer a range of pain relief options to include a ‘mobile epidural’. 👣

This was developed directly in response to feedback from women under our care who wanted effective pain relief but to remain mobile during labour and birth. We are proud to be the first hospital in Ireland to offer this choice.

There are many medical or personal reasons why a planned (elective) caesarean section may be recommended as the safest option for a mother and baby. When this is the case, we are committed to providing the best care that supports the best possible recovery.

Our Enhanced Recovery After Caesarean Section (ERAC) Programme is an evidence-based pathway designed to promote a smoother and more comfortable recovery following a planned caesarean section. The programme focuses on clear preparation before surgery, effective pain management, early eating and drinking, early mobilisation, and supporting a safe return home when you and your baby are ready.

If you are scheduled for a planned caesarean section, you can find detailed information on what to expect before, during and after your surgery in our patient booklet.
You can access the booklet here: https://www.coombe.ie/caesarean-birth
