‘The Busker of the Oscars’

Tinkers Hill to Rugged Lane
Couldn't be more heartbreaking
Resting place for our troubadour
Who got lost in the marsh
And found the hill to be too steep

But your star will shine, shine
Laid down in the hollow ground
Together we will rise
As the basket cases
When everyone has said goodbye

No more divin’ for the pearls
Shut the door to the moon
A slow hurt is breaking us
Breaking us down
Cut the bonds with the moon
And suck the poison up to bleed

This is what happens when your heart gives up
Taking the hard way out
An angel at our table

Because we were born to hold you in these arms
Healing your wounds that bleed
We picture you smiling with pride in your eyes

Star, Star, teach you how to shine
Because you’re not going down here
This journey isn’t over
It’s a long way to the house of Fitzcarraldo
Our last words, we are always thinking of you

Love is going to find you again
Tethered to a bird of sorrow
I know you’re not leaving us just yet
When everything around us is burning
Your good heart will find us again
On the long track that leads you out to God

Our last words, we are always thinking of you
It’s a sad way, but
You’re not leaving us
We’re not leaving you
We’re not leaving you
Love is going to find us again

You’re just gone with the tide
With rivers and streams in between
So lift up your arms now and reach for it
You’ll be fine now
Stay close to us, and make good hope walk with you through everything.

RIP Glen Hansard one of the finest.

Rewilding your heart and soul after childhood trauma is closely related and helped by rewilding nature and returning the ecosystem to its natural rhythm.

This video is a patch of our garden that has been rewilded with native wildflower seed and is an act of restorative kindness heavily influenced by Mary Reynold’s activism.

As we sat in the garden this evening we watched a pair of buzzards feed its chicks, a red squirrel run hastily toward its nest, a red kite soaring in the horizon, hares jumping sky high and a small hazel dormouse enjoying the sun. Several hummingbird moths bungled about.. A fox strode through the foxgloves and some deers came to play in the dappled shade.

14 years of rewilding 64 acres in Wicklow is paying off.

Lots done but so much more to do ❤️💪👏💫

🤫 This was common in the 1980s. Reports to Gardai of sexual abuse crimes against children were neither investigated nor acted upon. In my personal experience, Gardai need extensive training to become trauma-informed and survivor-focused. Instead, survivors are left exposed to institutional betrayal trauma, meaning that the very systems that are supposed to protect you fail to do so.

☺️ My book combines personal testimony and clinical research, and questions these very frameworks.

🤐 This research has informed me that there is a societal turning away from survivors and that society itself acts as a barrier to the disclosure of sexual abuse.

😓 Sadly, it is often up to the survivors themselves to give up their anonymity and speak out for change.

💪 However, this can be viewed as the counterstory, a resistance strategy that aids in repairing their identity and reintegrating them into the social and moral community.

🙌 Well done to these men who are survivors of pa******le Bill Kenneally and have the courage to challenge the narrative and hold to account the very structures and systems that are meant to protect little children, yet do nothing.

It's been quite a whirlwind since my book was published. It is now available at the oldest bookshop in Dublin, 'The Last Bookshop', located in the heart of Camden Street, and at Alan Hanna's bookshop in Rathmines

🥰 I'm honestly blown away by all of the wonderful responses

🥰 If you are finding it hard to rebuild your life after the societal silencing and shaming of childhood trauma, this book is for you.

5-star reviews have been coming in from Amazon 💪

'I read this whole book in one sitting. Beautiful, raw, empowering and with the added feeling of being held by a professional psychotherapist. A wonderful combination of lived experience and professional expertise'-Emma King
