Sharing this great visual from ‘Evolve Therapy’ - it is so important to spend time working on the foundation skills of language development: attention and listening skills, engagement, interaction and play. Once these skills are developing we move to build on receptive language and then expressive language.
Don’t underestimate the power of sitting down face to face and playing with your child or reading books together this Christmas!!

Set goals, it’s okay to spend time laying a good foundation, set up the environment, have a clear goal, plan how to model. ❤️

Hi all, this is a resource from Worcestershire Speech and Language Therapy about behaviours which are 'friendly' and 'not friendly'. You can discuss these behaviours with your child and sort into 'friendly' and 'not friendly'. These may help you to chat about the idea of beng a good friend!

HI all, interesting article in the Irish Examiner explaining the role of Special Needs Assistants (SNAs), which I have attached here. SNAs are a vital support for children and young people who have special needs, including ASD, Down Syndrome, etc.

Happy new year to all my clients! This is a tip page from Worcestershire SLT on developing your child's narrative (story telling) skills using books! Read a story book with your child and encourage their problem-solving and prediction skills with these types of questions: how is the girl feeling?, What will the teacher do next?, Why is the boy covering his eyes?, etc. Have fun!

Happy New Year to all my clients and families! This is a tip sheet from Worcestershire SLT based on developing your child's higher level narrative (story telling) skills. Use a story book and ask your child the following types of questions: How is the boy feeling?, Why did the girl look scared?, What will the girl tell her teacher?, etc.

Hi all, hope ye are enjoying this weather! I'm going to be presenting as part of the Cork Autism Conference on the 9th October in the Oriel House Hotel (see attached flyer). I will be speaking about communication difficulties for children with ASD and relevant therapy methods. There are medical professionals, a psychologist and an O.T presenting also.
